I think TCU is too small, and not prestigious enough on the academic/research side for the Big 12.
One darkhorse school to keep an eye on for future Big 12 expansion is UT Arlington. Presently, they have 25,000 students and are strong academically and in research. They are also swimming in Barnett Shale natural gas money, so upgrades and expansion are going on all over campus.
Naturally, UTA would need to bring
FB back, which is a huge hurdle. But with the new Cowboys stadium right in their back yard, they wouldn't have to worry about facilities, if they could work out a deal with Jerry. A study was conducted a couple of years ago about bringing
FB back, but I don't know where it stands. Money won't be a problem...
