He said that the newspaper industry is dying, and he doesn't want to die with it. He said that while he was covering the Olympics in China, that most of the journalists there were for websites, not newspapers. He's keeping his gig on Around the Horn, and it wouldn't surprise me if he starts writing for their website. He probably already has something lined up.
He recently signed an extension. Then he resigns immediately after he gets a free trip to China and the Olympics. Classy.
