GMac was a fantastic hire, but again, UNI's issue isn't how much they miss a great coach like McDermott or how much Jacobsen doesn't measure up in his place. UNI is realizing just how important guards like Ben Jacobsen and Erik Crawford were to their team. It's very difficult to replace talented, upperclassmen guards (something
ISU fans should be acutely aware of; especially this season). I'm pretty sure UNI would be struggling just as much under McDermott as they are under Jacobsen. It's not a coaching issue, it's a lack of talent and experience in the backcourt.
