ISU fans, and I think most old Big 8 schools, will forever hold a grudge against any Texas venue for the conference tournament. Especially
ISU. KC was special, it was relatively close and
ISU fans were readily embraced by the city of KC. It was tradition
People weren't happy (me included) about that tradition being broken.
I don't think that not being happy about the tournament being moved is a reflection upon Dallas, or Ok City or whereever else.
