Re: NCAAB: Wisconsin @ Iowa

Iowa has been making a lot of good teams look bad this season. That says a lot about Todd Lickliter and his system. Hate to say it, but I think Iowa basketball is on the upswing.

Help me out here because I'm confused. Iowa State beat Iowa and also beat the top team in the big 10/11 conference when they defeated Purdue in Vegas. Why do we care about the Big 10/11 again? I guess I don't understand the love affair for Iowa all of a sudden because they have beat some teams that aren't very good. I guess we will have to wait till the big dance for everyone to figure out that the big 10/11 isn't very good this year.

Man, that Purdue win would really help our NCAA resume if we had a chance to be on the bubble (still hoping, but know that we are pretty much done for NCAAs).

I dunno, Michigan State beat Texas and Missouri, Illinois beat Okie State and Missouri, Wisconsin beat Texas (at Texas) and there were a few more Big Ten wins over the Big 12.

The Big 12 may be slightly stronger due to KU's absolute dominance, but the "Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State aren't very good, so it's not impressive" thing you've got going on is incorrect.

Of course, a close loss isn't as good as a win.

Not to diminish how well Iowa has been playing, but they have had the luxury of some extremely good 3 point shooting by two different players. They are making a boatload of threes in the games where they are playing well.

No point here, really, but I just wish we would have a couple of options that on any given night could hit the open shots consistently. It really doesn't take a superstar, either, it just takes confidence. I think of some of the great three point shooters, and they aren't physically gifted, but they have great confidence...they think everything they throw up is going in, and it can change games.

Is 7 threes really a boatload?

I'm talking individually. Like the 8 threes Johnson has had, and the 5 or whatever Freeman had last night.

To me, that's a boatload, and 7 is a boatload when your team is scoring 50-some points.

Re: NCAAB: Wisconsin @ Iowa

I know this is going to sound cliche`, but I'm gonna say it anyways. That's the Lickliter offense. Shoot 3's. The reason why Iowa has had so many games where they've shot so few points is because of the fact that they are streaky. If you look at Lick's first full class, you can tell what type of player he's going for.

This season, there are 4 guys who can shoot the three pointer. JJ and Freeman are the only two you can ever sort of count on, and then Peterson and Kelly are a distant 3rd and 4th right now because of their experience.
