Could see this series result coming a mile away, still disappointing that they couldn't muster more than 9 runs all weekend long. The Cubs will be OK, but they need to get back on track before the all-star break. I don't like having those Cardinals as close as they are right now in the standings.
Cubs still need to find some way to get things done when not at Wrigley. But with some key players coming back soon, and the break fast approaching, they still are in a great place to be in - First Place.
If I'm the Cubs, I might file a grievance/protest.
EDIT: On replay, it was the right call. Still, the umps sucked tonight.
I think that there were a couple blown calls, but I don't they would have impacted the outcome of the game. ESPN did a good job of showing that the Sox did a great job of adjusting and fixing issues the pitching staff had with regarding to pitching at tough hitters.
Great 6 game series though. It's the best interleague series of them all IMO.
Sorry... jumping into the thread late.... I know you can't argue balls/strikes... but can't you argue whether or not he checked his swing or not... isn't that different than arguing balls/strikes?
Good ole Sox sweep with some Old Chicago WBT action...perfect end to a weekend. My favorite quote from the ESPN recap: " There were several fights in the stands" simply amazing.
"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day".-Frank Sinatra
I think we learned what we already knew before the two series. Both teams are damn good at home, and are pretty evenly matched.
Sox lefties OWNED the Cubs. Only allowed 3 runs, 2 earned....one by Danks last Friday, one HR by Booner last Saturday, and the unearned last night. Gotta imagine their missing Soriano's .377 average against southpaws.
