North vs. South

I've thought for a while, but now I'm getting more impressed by the Big 12 North this season. Outside of Kansas, top to bottom the North is looking just as strong, if not stronger than the South. Here is a comparison.

North
2-1 against South
6-5 in Big 12
24-10 overall
1-2 against ranked non-conference teams
4-2 against non-conference BCS teams
Combined record of all non-conference teams played so far 67-62= 52%

South
1-2 against North
5-6 in Big 12
23-9 overall
1-2 against ranked non-conference teams
3-2 against non-conference BCS teams
Combined record of all non-conference teams played so far 58-62= 48%


(Point of interest- ISU's non-conference opponent record is by far the best in the Big 12 at 15-6=71% with Oklahoma coming in second at 16-9=64%)

Very true, it seems like the North Division has a lot of upside to it and stability as far as coaching right now. It's unfortunate that right when the North was ready to balance the power, the conference is splitting up.

Good job Jaretac, I was actually thinking about this today with Mizzou putting the hurt on A & M along with ISU beating Tech.

well unranked Texas is kicking "high-touted" Nebraska around at the moment ... that won't help things

I said before the season that two most overrated teams in the country were Penn St and Nebraska.

I think yesterday disproved this. The Huskers were an apparation, they're 10-15th worthy but nowhere near top 5. I think CU and NU losing at home over rides Mizzou beating an over hyped A&M squad, and then theres our game.....

I just did the North vs the South. The North has 5 wins and 7 losses to the South teams. This is how it breaks down individually for the North teams:

ISU 2-1
Wins: Texas Tech, Texas
Loses: Oklahoma

Missouri 2-0
Wins: Texas A&M, Oklahoma
Loses:

Nebraska 1-1
Wins: Oklahoma State
Loses: Texas

Kansas State: 0-1
Wins:
Loses: Baylor

Colorado 0-2
Wins:
Loses: Baylor Texas Tech

Kansas 0-2
Wins:
Loses: Texas Tech, Baylor

By this the South still has more depth in their division as the lower teams are better than the North.

What's still left for North/South games?

Look at our 3 FBS teams non-conf:
Northern Illinois 6-2, MAC front runner, already beat 2nd best MAC team, 53 Sagarin
Iowa 5-2, still likely to finish 2nd-3rd in Big Ten, they'll beat MSU
Utah 7-0, likely to move up in BCS top ten this week
