Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
Helmet to helmet contact AGAIN????
Missouri should have had a fresh set of downs . . the NU player tossed out of the game . . etc.
The officiating crew should be benched on this one.

That hit was bad, and on the QB in plain sight too. That would not fly in the NFL thats for sure!

Re: Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
Someone call the wambulance, not everything gets called. I do not think it was intentional I think the defender got there so fast and easy that he was unprepared fopr contact.

Walk On
Re: Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
Gabbert, who is 5 or 6 inches taller than the defender that came at him, lowered his head when the tackle was initiated. If Gabbert keeps his head up, he gets hit square in the numbers.

Re: Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
Anyone have a video of the hit?

Who in their right mind would stand straight up to get tackled?

Re: Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
I dont think he said "stand straight up". He said "keep his head up". There is a difference.

There is a difference. yes there is... i guess i would have to see the video of the hit. if you are the person getting tackled it still doesn't make sense to keep your head up unless you aren't trying to make any yards on the play. If you have any forward momentum at all you will put your head down in a way to get more yards. It's basic football

I'm not targeting you for this but when the offensive player lowers his head to get more yardage the helmet to helmet rule should go out the window. Otherwise the offensive player should be flagged any time HE causes the H to H contact.
I know that this is not realistic but I just think that all of these penalties are going to far. If someone is blatantly leading with his head then that is one thing but if the contact is accidental then I dont think it should be flagged.
“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...” – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register -
Re: Is Nebraska coaching "cheap shot" football?
If I remember the play right, the NU player went after Gabbert's head with both his helmet and his fist.

It sucks to get caught/busted for an unintentional mistake, but lack of intent doesn't absolve responsibility. Plus, intent cannot be objectively determined on the field. The call has to be made on what actually happened, not what an official thinks was meant to have happened.

But since your rabid fanatic fan base can't think rationally . . maybe ISU can get some payback by blasting the guy's knee apart on a chop block as he targets Arnaud.
