    Hawkins is now 2-23 on the road and has lost 16 straight road games. Chizik couldn't even do that bad... oh wait, that guy did worse.

    It's an interesting question. Does it help or hurt ISU for Hawkins to be fired this week? I'm not sure. I guess I'd prefer they not do it this week.

    With only two games left this year what benefit would it be to fire Hawkins now? When he does go at the end of the year his whole staff will be gone with him so its not like you are going to bring in a guy that might be the next coach. Just finish out the season and start looking around for a new coach. It might even make the hiring process a little easier as a new coach may not want to see that you just fired your last coach mid-season.

    They don't gain anything by firing him now. If they were going to fire him during the season, it should have been a couple weeks ago, but with his son starting at QB after the injury to the 1st-stringer, that probably put it off until the end of the season.

    I think having Cody Hawkins as their last remaining healthy QB is the only thing keeping Hawkins employed right now. I really believe that.

    I'm not certain that Hawkins being fired might not give the team a spark. You sometimes get an assistant coach that is well thought of and the players rally around him. Also, as low as that ship is right now, it might actually relieve some pressure from the team.

    Either way, we damn well should win that game.
