It makes me a little sad though, because if the basketball schools ever do break off and add the other big name Catholic schools like Xavier, Dayton, St. Louis, etc., I so badly want that conference to be named the Big Diocese.

I so hope we get the Big 12 on ESPN. ESPN3 is an amazing deal and I'd love to have all of the televised football games on there.

Winning potential also ISU would be a name in the Big East right out of the gates.

Dan Patrick said it best, IMO. College sports are becoming more like pro everyday. People no longer tune in to watch many of the traditional regional matchups, it is like asking why Dallas is in the NFC East....

We had a chance to win in football this year, in a better conference. There's no guarantee that letdowns don't happen, balls don't get dropped, and opportunities always get capitalized on just because we move to the Big East.

I don't understand how this is anything but great news. If ESPN wants all the Big 12 TV rights, that's great, but they're going to have to pay cause Fox wants them too. A bidding war over TV rights is exactly what this conference needs.

Kansas isn't leaving - no one will leave the Big 12 til they find out what kind of money they can make with the new TV deal.

Watch though, in 8 years it will be all "We need to get out of the schackles of this ESPN contract! Did you see how much CBS overpayed for the crappy ACC after they lost their SEC games?! That should be us!"
