Re: Texas/ESPN and KU talking to the Big East
Is the Big Ten even done expanding? I thought that I read something after Nebraska want to the Big Ten that Jim Delany wants to keep all of his options open and was still looking into expansion, which would fit the original time table of finding a new team or teams in 12-18 month time period.

The Big East is in the process of developing their own Network and will most likely build it off the big ten channel model. That means X dollars for every household. While the football won't be as marketable as the big 10, the basketball will be worth more than any other conference. Their footprint would be the Missouri River East and Texas. It would be over half the US. The only markets it would miss out on are Denver, Salt Lake and the West Coast. They would not be able to get the same $$ per viewer but they would have 2-3 times as many viewers.
If they added the forgotten four

My guess is they would get at least $10 million more per year if they were to go independent as they would not need to share TV money for football and basketball. I bet they would get more though because ad revenue and the like. The big thing is that Texas would not have to share any TV money for basketball and football, these are the money makers. They would make more then they are now. Would it be crazy to think that ESPN would give Texas an exclusive TV package for $50 Million/year?

I've asked this question 100 times, and not once has anyone given a rational answer. Same people saying that are the same people that pimp getting Notre Dame in the Big 12 or say Notre Dame will go to the Big 10. In other words, they have no reason but it seems cool to say it.

Texas can command a huge sum of money on their own they would not need to split with anyone. I do not think $50 Million/year from ESPN for all sports is out of the question. This would be a net gain of $15 million/year from what Texas is assumed to be getting. ($20 million new tv deal along with $15 million for non revenue sports) I know ISU would jump to get a 40% gain in tv revenue annually.

You can have your cake and eat it too, in the Big 12.

I'm not convinced that Texas can get more money as an Independent than they can in the Big 12. For ESPN's sake, they'd certainly get more $ from the Big 12 as a whole, than Texas alone.

I am ThatGuy and I fully support a move to the Big East.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

I will have to find it but I think 50% of the TV money is split equally. The other 50% is based on television appearances. If you are the feature game on ABC you would get a bigger chunk then if you were a regional game on ABC or on FOX. You get $0 if you are on Fox College Sports.
