Embree isn't all that much out of Left Field. Embree played at CU and interviewed in 2005 (token interview). The hope is that he would be able to bring Eric Bienemy with him.
Still, it sure seems like a reach to me...hire an NFL TE coach with no coordinator experience as HC. Then hire another NFL position coach as OC. What are they going to do, offer Alfred Williams and Kanavis McGee co-DC spots? Maybe bring in Darian Hagan to coach the QBs and Charles Johnson to coach WRs? Most of that team were Cally guys, so I guess that they should be able to recruit Cally pretty well in that conference. I'd worry about being out-scheme-ed with that little experience at the top. I wish that they were still on our schedule because I'm betting it ends badly.

"....It was neverabout me doing it again," McCartney said in an interview with The Denver Post. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in (as head coach). And he (Mike Bohn) hired one...."
"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect".
Yeah it does, BUT MBB and FB are two totally different things. Fred hired Lutz as his main Xs and Os guy, which would be similar to a coordinator in FB.
What does being black (or white) have to do with anything?
It means CU cares more about appearances than hiring the best possible candidate for the job. And it should come as no surprise -- it is the most liberal campus west of Iowa City.
I think Eric Bienemy would have been a better choice given his connections to California. He was a running backs coach and recruiting coordinator for UCLA. Seems to me that given their move to the PAC-12, it would be in their best interest to get a guy with existing recruiting ties to California.
I guess I don't care much as they won't be playing us anymore.

According to Stewart Mandel, Bienemy will be offensive coordinator.
