Re: Who won last year's CBI tourny and why did Iowa State not participate this year?
Creighton played Oregon in the Championship, that is fitting. Wish Alleman would've got the best of them.

I assume Scotty is having surgery asap to get ready for next season. Last thing we would want is to go in with walkons and embarrass ourselves in a tourney like that.
Re: Who won last year's CBI tourny and why did Iowa State not participate this year?
I think we would have had some issues with health so I get why we didn't participate but the people who discount how valuable playing in this very short sighted. Tournament play of any kind can help a program learn how to finish off games and help breed a culture of winning. It's one of the reasons the mid majors can pull of upsets in the NCAA tourney. More than likely they've been through "tournament style" battles in the conference tourneys and know how to win close games under pressure.

McDermott was on KXNO talking about how 6,000 people showed up in the 17,000 seat Qwest Center for Creighton's "Final Four" CBI game. And Creighton is a team that typically packs the QC.
I would guess the championship game there gets a little boost...but not much.
I'm glad we didn't play in either the CBI or CIT.
Re: Who won last year's CBI tourny and why did Iowa State not participate this year?
The CBI was the only option... the CIT is for mid-majors only

Because the CBI is a waste of time and there is no benifit that comes out of it.
This season was like an injured horse, it needed to be put of its misery

I'm laughing...cfh said we didn't have enough players to field a team after the big 12 tourney because of injuries and some even after hearing that think we should have gone. Wth?

agree here.
The younger guys will have plenty of extra playing/practice time when they head over-seas for the summer.

I'm all for watching more ISU bball, so personally I would have like to have seen them play. however, like others have said, I can understand it wouldn't have helped next years team much.

Good for them. KU is my most hated basketball elitist program.
Why did we not participate this year? ISU was perfectly situated for a few more games in one of the two consolation-type tourny's after the Big One and the NIT. This was the ONLY year we could have done this.
Final of CBI this year, by the way, is Creighton vs Oregon. We could have done that.
I think Hoiberg may have alluded to nagging injuries and just the wear and tear of the season playing heavily into it. He didn't say we turned anything down either, so maybe there wasn't an option.
If it was me, I'd always leave it up to the players, most specifically the seniors. If they want to play, I'd have the team play.
