Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
It would be fun for Hilton to welcome Steve to the house.

Alford going to Indiana is like what Hoiberg going to ISU was for us. A safe, loyal hire. I think it was a little too soon for Indiana to have hired Alford back in 2008. He just left Iowa, and nobody steals a coach after their first year with a team. I think it is a definite possibility that Alford will be on the sidelines for the Hoosiers for the 2012-2013 season.

That might be true so he might as well make some money off of Mizzou this year.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
He's only meeting with him to hold a press conference announcing he isn't interested in the position.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
Not a lot of great coaches on the market. Unfortunately for Mizzou he's probably worth talking to.
It's obviously if they'd talk to Alford that they've missed on their top 2-3 targets.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
I thought he went to New Mexico because it was a basketball school first, then football. MU is a football school first, so that goes against his logic.

Crean's going to get to see his 2012 class come in unless he is found to have strangled some puppies.
Have to remember that Indiana was scorched earth. They had nothing. Literally nothing.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
Alford has too big of an ego to go unnoticed out in New Mexico. He needs to be at a big school. It would be stupid for him to leave New Mexico right now with the young talent they already have and are bringing in but if it's offered he will take the job in a heartbeat.

I know for a fact that Alford still wants the Indiana job and thinks he can get it the next time it comes open. I will be shocked if he leaves New Mexico but than again he has coached in Missouri before.

Make it happen, Xmas coming early this year for the big 12.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
????????????????????
There is nothing about this on Mizzou's premiums boards or anything from any of the known insiders. I think someone is having some fun creating a rumor and watching the result. I hadn't even heard of this till I got on this board. I'm pretty sure it isn't even on Tigerboard that place can be full of bs rumors.

I agree. I think Crean has to be about done at Indiana. I watched a portion of a number of Indiana games this year and concluded the man is a control freak. He stalks the sideline back and forth and does not seem to let the players play. I believe his was the coach of D Wade who obviously carried him to the final four. Alford would be a much better choice at Indiana.

He held a press conference to declare that he wasn't interested (eventually). He dressed out in his black and gold, of course, talked about how Iowa City was his home (now), and how his entire closet was filled with black and gold, not crimson and cream.
Alford's actually held that press conference before.

Re: Steve Alford Mizzou Rumor
Thanks for the insight MissouriFan. Just curious.......was Norm Stewart involved at all with the last two coaching searches?
