Frank Martin/Miami?
This rumor is already out there. Martin is from Miami. It is where his family is. He notoriously recruits the area. Things could start to get messy in the Big 12 folks. With that in mind, this basketball instability is great for Iowa State IMO. Franks Haith and Martin, stress at Missouri and K-State, and it's all related | Don't Kill the Mellinger -

I'd love for him to leave and K-State to become mediocre again.

Re: Frank Martin/Miami?
One thing though about Martin. He has a really bad name down there. I am not saying he won't take the job and turn it around. He did **** a ton of high school coaches off back in the day when he was recruiting there players. I actually like Frank Martin in the big 12. I think the big 12 needs coaches like him. The big 12 is short on character coaches right now and he brings that to the table.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I was under the impression that recruiting Florida was his bread and butter, I'd imagine being in Miami would only make that easier.

Haith was speculated to be fired a few times now. Wonder what Missouri saw in him?

I don't think Haith is as bad as many will make him out to be. Don't get me wrong, I was pretty surprised when I woke up and saw that this morning. But just because not many people have heard of him doesn't mean he's destined for failure.

Re: Frank Martin/Miami?
The problem with Martin down that way was he was recruiting from other high school.

Re: Frank Martin/Miami?
They mention recruits will want to know why players aren't sticking around KSU. Wally Judge left.....who else? His attrition doesn't seem anywhere near McD levels. A little attrition is normal. I must be missing alot of information, cause that part of the write-up confuses me.

On the surface, this appears to be a Terrible hire (with a capital T).

Also, it's a boring hire, which I think is kind of a cardinal sin in these situations. I mean Hoiberg probably looked like an awful hire to people outside ISU, but at least you saw the AD swinging for the fences. This just seems like, I don't know, giving up.

Terrible, or dare you drop the Charles Barkley "Turrible"?

Kudos to Chris... Someone on here actually thinking as they follow the thread--it is refreshing! How often do you see a post like this?
Personally I have no *real* idea about the wisdom of the hire, but on the surface, I sure question it.

Mizzou=Creighton, hiring a coach who is going to be fired in a year, only worse. McDerrmott was atleast successful before.

McDermott was a proven MVC coach who had taken multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament. Other than two short stints as a Big 12 assistant, Haith has no ties to the Big 12, has been a very average head coach in seven seasons and generates little to no excitement within that fan base.
