The AAU schtick in regards to Notre Dame was all just an excuse to avoid being turned down again. If the Irish were actually willing to accept the "invite" (they technically have to apply), you could bet your wife's a** (for some of you, I'm sure that would probably be a much greater loss than losing your own ) that the Big Ten would have gone after them hard.
Nebraska adds to the Big Ten's name brand in football, which is what conference expansion was always about. It's never about academics, unless it's the Ivy League that's looking to expand. No **** the big 10 is all about money. Look at Ohio State football, and the iowa u. drug testing program.

Good point but then the Big Ten shouldn't have presented it like it was last summer. That's the problem I had. I wouldn't have cared if you took Boise State, but they didn't have to make it sound like anything other than football mattered. The non-athletic portion of some of these Universities are mad about this. They don't have much say, but they aren't happy.

Of course everyone knows it was about the money. That's the funny part. The big 10 acted like they accepted n.u mainly because of their academics. That's like saying they accepted iowa u. based on their drug testing policy.

I will give you credit, that post shows that you have the understanding that nothing is going to stop osu, psu, and mich if/when decide to take their ball and go home when they look into their own tv networks.
Good job out of you. Now you can explain it to the other mopeds that seem to think that 100 year old piece of paper means anything.

Re: UNL gets the boot
Can't blame this on hard feelings from Big 12 members.
Perlman said most of the 11 other Big Ten universities supported UNL's efforts to remain in the AAU, as did all of the Big 12 universities in the AAU.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -

That freshman class was approximately 6 people (half of which were Navy ROTC, IIRC), but I switched to Civil after the first semester. At that time, a degree in NucE meant that you were going to work for the Navy, the federal DOE, a utility company, or go on to teach. Not a lot of flexibility on where you want to go with that degree.
And I wouldn't blame TMI for the decline in popularity. Our first presentation at the first year seminar class was "What We Think Happened At Chernobyl". TMI was a waiter getting an order wrong, while Chernobyl was the restaurant burning to the ground during the evening rush.

Hilarious! I'd like to see the vote from the Big 10 presidents now. Wonder how this would affect things.
Nebraska will be the joke of the B10. I'm not expecting them to do much.

If it was after than the the Big 12 members were being supportive at no benefit to themselves but not having all the Big 10 members support after the move to the Big 10 shows that some of the academics voiced their oppinions by voting to boot UNL.

If they made AAU membership a "big deal", then they wouldn't be obligated to suck on Notre Dame's d***, just to get turned down again. If Notre Dame wanted to come, they could come; but the Big Ten wasn't going to beg them too anymore.
