KU getting nervous
If Self doesn't land any of these last minute recruits, KU could be hurting big time. There's a little bit of panic going on in Lawrence. At least on paper, this very well could be their weakest returning roster in a long time. Bill Self hopes for late additions to KU’s recruiting class - KansasCity.com -
Re: KU getting nervous
They will get quality players, somebody will pony up the money.

Re: KU getting nervous
I don't think that "they will be in trouble big time" if they don't get any of the three players. It will just mean a top 25 team instead of a top 10 team, and it means they might struggle to win another conference championship. But to say that they are in trouble big time is an overstatement.
They have Tyshawn Taylor, Elija Johnson, Travis Releford, Thomas Robinson, Jeff Withey as starters and three good recruits in Ben Mclemore, Braedon Anderson and Naadir Tharpe. If they sign one or more of the current targets they will be champs again.

Re: KU getting nervous
They lose 80% of their scoring, 75% of their rebounding, 65% of their assists. Six of their top eight players are gone. Not counting Taylor, their returning players averaged 5 minutes/game last year.
With those starters, and with three first year players off the bench, they will struggle big time. Withey sucks. He runs like he's on stilts. Releford a question mark. Johnson is a head case. Robinson is talented but unproven as the centerpiece.
I like our chances against them as much next year as any year I can remember.

Re: KU getting nervous
look at the late players they have added. Shady dudes who somehow decide late on Kansas. Rush should not have been let on a college campus let alone go to school on one. His brother even offered to pay his tuition to go to Missouri and he still chose KU.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I like our chances against them as much next year as any year I can remember. Kansas loses good players every year and they still win the big 12. Just look at what they did the year after they won the championship. They lost a lot more that year and still made it to the sweet 16.
The loss of the Morris Twins hurt the most. Selby, Reed, Morningstar and Little are all replaceable.
Taylor showed a lot of improvement at the end of the year and so did Elijah Johnson. Withey is not going to dominate but he is a decent 7 footer.
Robinson is going to be a beast. He averaged about 8 points and 7 rebounds a game in 14 minutes of play.
I agree that if they don't get any more players we will play well against them but if they get a couple of the recruits set to announce tomorrow combined with the three recruits they already have then they will win the Big 12 next year. How can you pick against them when they have won it so many times in row? Until someone knocks them off they are the favorite.
Texas would have won the league if Hamilton, Thompson and Joseph would have stayed. With all those players leaving Texas it really helps ISU. Now with a coaching change at A&M and Missouri, next year is stacking up very favorable for ISU.

Re: KU getting nervous
KU wins the B12 because the rest of it cant seem to get its **** straight lately. That could all change shortly.

Do you mean Darrell 'shady' Arthur? What does his brother offering to pay his tuition at missouri have to do with anything? He was going to go for free any place he went.

Re: KU getting nervous
I think the "until someone knocks them off, they are the favorite" is one of the lamest arguments in sports. Especially when you lose as much as KU does next year. Look what that got the Lakers and Celtics this year.
I live in the middle of KU country. I don't remember a KU team with this weak of a returning roster... at least on paper. They are as ripe for the taking as they've been in a long time. I can tell you my KU friends around here are all preparing for a letdown.

I can tell you my KU friends around here are all preparing for a letdown. The returning roster after Simien, Langford, and Miles left was far weaker, as was the returning roster after Chalmers, Rush, Robinson, Jackson, Kaun, and Arthur left. Only one year ago, KU lost two lottery picks and a senior point guard who was a better college player than both.
Still, all were top 10 teams who won the Big 12 the next season. So I don't think it's a stretch to think they'll be near the top of the conference and top 15 nationally again.

Re: KU getting nervous
Self is a good coach and even if they're not at the elite level they're used too, he'll still have them competitive and a top 25 team. Plus, don't forget the refs will give them all the help they can

With at least 2 more 5 stars coming in for Baylor over the next 2 years.. its amazing they can't win more than they do.
