    Kansas DC/Linebacker coach Torbush to retire - cancer

    Kansas Defensive Coach Torbush Retires, Has Cancer

    LAWRENCE, KS -- Kansas defensive coordinator Carl Torbush is retiring after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    The school said Tuesday that Torbush, who also served as KU's
    linebackers coach, will be having surgery soon and expects a full
    recovery.


    Torbush was hired after the 2009 season after a year as
    Mississippi State's defensive coordinator. He previously was a head
    coach at Louisiana Tech and North Carolina and defensive
    coordinator at Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

    Carl Torbush Announces Retirement - KANSAS OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

    Gill announced that Vic Shealy will replace Torbush as defensive coordinator, while Buddy Wyatt will be promoted to co-defensive coordinator.



    Coach Shealy, a former head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator at the collegiate level, joined Gill's staff as the Jayhawk cornerbacks coach in December 2009 and is entering his second season with the program.
