Big 12 Revenue Sharing at 76%
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Big 12's lower-revenue schools walked out of the conference meetings Friday with a multimillion-dollar pay increase. Big 12 blog
Previously the Big 12 distributed 57 percent of football and basketball TV dollars equally among its 12 members.
Now, with Colorado and Nebraska gone, the league has decided to spread 76 percent of the dollars equally. The vote was unanimous on Friday, the final day of the conference meetings.
Commissioner Dan Beebe declined to speculate exactly how much this will mean to lower-revenue members such as Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas State.
But he agreed it will be "millions," given the $1.17 billion football deal with Fox that takes effect in 2012.

This is great while it lasts. Wasn't it just a year or so ago when we thought we might be down millions? I can still hardly believe that we are ending up with a windfall profit from Nebraska leaving. It is wonderful and should allow us to continue moving forward.

Wait. I was told on here that revenue sharing didn't work.

Hold up. Texas doesn't get all of it? That's what the Hawkeyes telled me.

You know, the more of this stuff they put out, the more it looks like the Big 12 is here to stay!
It looked that way already, but they are doing a very nice job of building the evidence to support it.

This not only helps ISU incrementally close the gap with the rest of the conference, it also moves them higher up the food chain from a national perspective.

After all these years, the Big 12 is acting like a conference. Good stuff going on, and it helps every member try to grow.

Again, this is only for Tier II rights? Which means Texas/OU get cuts while not sharing the Tier I revenue? So confused about this stuff.

Look at that... Get rid of Nebraska and all of a sudden the Texas schools decide to play nice. I am starting to believe the problems with all of this was never really UT but instead with Nebraska.

Vote down revenue sharing......check. Good job, Huskers.
Leave the conference, leave everyone frightened while looking out for "#1," while not looking out for any long-term relationship schools from the old Big 6/8.......check. Good job, Huskers.
Blame Texas for talking of doing exactly what they themselves did..check. Good job, Huskers.
Unrelated, but fun: Become the first school ever kicked out of the AACS, thus proving their true academic mettle and showing last summer for the money grab it really was....check. Good job, Huskers.
Funny how harmonious the conference is without the Huskers, and how everything falls into place to function like a real conference. So long, Huskers. You are not missed, and you never will be.
