I'm sure you remember the battle getting the BTN on basic cable in Iowa - and that was for the school with the largest amount of support in the state. Not saying it couldn't happen - but the BTN struggled at first, and Big Ten teams have access to much larger markets than Big 12 teams.
It would come down to logistics, but I'm not sure I'd say withk
any confidence you could get a Big XII Network (less Texas) on basic cable easily anywhere. Hell, even in Texas, you better believe UT fans would fight the station that subsidizes TAMU/Tech/Baylor.
I honestly would like to see the Big 12 teams end up in a big Big East conference, just to see this whole thing back fire on ESPN (I readily admit that may lose revenue for Big 12 teams - I simply want to see it because of my disdain for all things ESPN) - let Texas have their independence, their egos are wayyyy to big to be in a conference. The difference is I don't think anyone will be pushing a potential Big 12 Network to be on basic - most ISU fans would likely be happy if it were on a sports tier, unlike a lot of Iowa fans that whined about it not being on basic (yah, a lot of Iowa fans were also opposed, but not nearly as ISU fans would be whining).

Sports tier doesn't make the kind of money that can support a network and be profitable for the schools. Basic cable does.
If a "sports tier network" were that profitable, every school/conference in the country would have one by now.

If the SEC is looking to increase their TV revenue, there is no doubt that TAMU is the best option. I just read this article today about the Aggie's to the SEC: Scout.com: Winds of Change Blowing Again?
I'm not saying I believe anything in that article, or that TAMU will be in the SEC in the next year or two....b ut if Texas continues to spread its legs, they better make damn sure they are paying TAMU well....because that is the one school that could make it all fall apart IMO. Nah. Everyone but Texas, and maybe OU is replaceable in the Big 12. Let A&M leave. The SEC won't expand unless the Big 10 does, and the Big 10 doesn't have anything to gain without Notre Dame. I'm sure Delaney wants to expand to 16 right now, but it won't make the current 12 any more money without Notre Dame, so he'll just have to run around at the end of his leash. Delaney is the ******* devil.
I'd love to see A&M just up and leave and pray the SEC takes them. The SEC doesn't need anyone. Even A&M would water down their draw, and they aren't exactly hurting for recruits (IE they don't need the Texas recruiting grounds).
A&M hates Texas, that's all it's about. They'll always hate Texas, and the Texas politics will always keep them joined together. And, BTW, this current issue with the LHN doesn't even effect A&M. A&M fans might see their cable bill increase ever so slightly, but that's the extent of it. They're making more money than they were, and they're actually competitive. And they probably don't even have an SEC offer (and won't until ND joins the Big 10).

But now the Big 10 Network is just a part of life, and a lot of people who aren't Big 10 fans somewhat enjoy it's content. If Iowa is playing on B10N, I'll watch it. I'm guessing a lot of Iowa fans keep an eye on ISU too.
People want sports coverage, and the Big 10 Network has already done the heavy lifting. Some Iowa fans would whine about a Big 12 Network out of a desire to hold ISU back, but once it was on, no one would have a problem with it, and people would porbably watch it anyhow.

It seems their main point of contention in the Bevo network is that it will also broadcast high school games. They feel that this will steer recruits towards UT because the network would show games of the players that were being recruited, with nothing thrown towards poor Aggie.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -

Re: Hey Missouri
I'm no expert on Texas politics, but I get the feeling that if A&M wanted to up and bail and they made their intentions public, the entire Texas state legislature would walk directly on to campus and start slapping A&M staffers for their insolence.
