A very strong Gregg Doyle column on the Big 12

Re: A very strong Gregg Doyle column on the Big 12
Except for the part about "recruits that would have gone elsewhere going to Texas" he has a good point.
But simply put: Texas gets the best kids in Texas. Always has, always will, LHN or no.
Texas's stance about the rest of the Big 12 seems to be that we're lucky to be riding their coattails.
As Jeffrey Lebowski would put it, "you're not wrong Walter, you're just an *** hole".

Hard to believe that Doyle would take that stance. -

I know Doyle probably doesn't, but why does it seem that most of the nation wants to see the Big 12 fail. It sure seems that way and I don't really understand it.

Florida makes bucko bucks for their 3rd tier rights.

That was an awful piece of writing. He basically reiterates that he doesn't understand the Big 12 situation then goes on to criticize something he doesn't understand.

Somewhere Jon Miller is masturbating.

That is the way I read it too. I don't understand why the Longhorn Network is being looked at as the greatest recruiting tool ever. That whole factor is being extremely overrated and it seems more likely to me Oklahoma and A&M are just using as an excuse to look outside the conference.

I blame part of this on the interweb. Everybody nowadays has a blog or a tweet or something and every media member wants to make a name for themselves. Conference realignments and negotiations have gone on before and will happen again in the future. But everyone is privy to more information now and it is all out in the open. The information age is awesome and dangerous at the same time. It is cool to know all this info, but it gets dramatized more now and it can create sheer panic on a whim.
As far as why everyone wants it to fail, I think it is everyone else wanting to believe they have it safe and sound. Or in the squakeyes case, they just want us to fail no matter what so they are the only game in town.

Re: A very strong Gregg Doyle column on the Big 12
Its the dog days of summer and unfortunately people don't have much to talk about right now.
Some things will change concerning the LHN and all will be well again in a couple weeks. Some d bags like to blow everything waaaaaaay out of proportion so people read their columns or retweet their stupid tweets. Just "columnists" throwing a bunch of **** on the wall and seeing what sticks
-I don't think Texas has the balls to go independent. I know they are Texas and Texas does what it wants but I just don't see it.
-As much as A&M is ******** right now, I don't think they have the balls to leave Texas (along with OU)
-Texas government is not going to let Baylor and TTU be hung out to dry.
-Missouri would leave in a heartbeat but will only be courted in a package deal.
Fall practice will start in a few weeks and this will all be behind us.......thankfully!

OK, so year in and year out, Texas fill their class before the season even starts. People are worried about them gaining an advantage by having kids on their network? Please. They are going to get who they are going to get. This excuse is just something for aTm to get all ****** off about and rationalize the fact they aren't Texas. I don't buy that this will get Texas more recruits.

Good Texas high school football is so high quality. It would be awesome to watch some of those games on TV.... If high school football in Iowa was any good, I don't see how people here wouldn't support putting those games on a network
