Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
I now give A&M a pass on all future craziness until the end of time. Texas tried to **** over the conference big time.

Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
Remember when I posted back in Janurary that there was crap in the contract that made OU uncomfortable?
Well we known what that crap is now... wow

Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
Someone care to offer a summary for those of us (me) who are too lazy to read all of those?
-
Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
Goodness gracious. Screw you Texas.

Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
Only thing really "news" to me are the outs in the contract. Anyone with a brain already knew what little regard Texas has for the future of the conference.
That, and it really underscores the need for a Big 12 network - we need to deny Texas access to conference road games.

- Texas will try, with best effort, to secure rights to air road games in pretty much every sport/tourney/championship.
- Texas will try, with best effort, to get the UIL (H.S. football championship in Texas) on ESPN after Fox's deal ends.
- Texas will not only get the promised money but 70% of profits above $295,000 plus an increase in payment of 3% per year on the base contract.
- ESPN has first rights to contract if Texas switches conference/goes independent.
- Texas can fire staff that doesn't fawn over Texas at every minute.
- At Texas' expense ESPN will make video for them for pretty much anything they want.
That's the big ones.

It was sold to the rest of the conference as 'oh, its just a UT home football game with someone from another conference that nobody but texas cares about and a few minor UT home basketball and other sports games that nobody but texas cares about seeing on tv, so why should we care if texas makes some money on it'. Turns out it was intended to be much larger than that.

Re: FOIA Request LHN/ESPN
I am biased and have seen some of this, (at least in summary).
Frankly, the Aggies may have done ISU and all B12 schools a favor and they are owed an apology.
I of course probably have a bias but try to be fair.

<rolls eyes>
I guess I'm not shocked at anything in there. What did you expect to find? ESPN wants to get as much content as they can and Texas will do what they can to provide it.
Whoopity Doo

IMO we are good for another year. However, we need to make ourselves marketable. For example, the haste to complete the scoreboard and new football facility. Jamie knows this.
