NCAA says no high school games on LHN
It will be interesting to see how this effects expansion/realignment. Good decision by the NCAA in my opinion. High school games cannot be on school networks - CBSSports.com -

How is ESPN going to justify the money for that network without programming? This could be the nail in the Longhorn Network's coffin.

Nowhere has it been locked down that there will not be a second conference game, just that the school would have to agree to it... but when ESPN puts all its weight behind a school, it may be hard for some to refuse.

Re: NCAA says no high school games on LHN
I don't think Aggie fans care. They want to stop being Texas' little brother so bad they'd rather be in a worse situation athletically. Worse yet - they are so deluded they cannot comprehend that even a move to the SEC won't stop them from still being Texas' little brother.

One step closer to ESPN coverting the LHN into the Big 12 network.

The Big 12 content will probably get additional rules on getting the games from schools to keep ESPN honest. I do think you will see CUSA, WAC, and Sun Belt TX teams playing games on the LHN as these will usually be blacked out. That would be win-win for all of them and UT.

Re: NCAA says no high school games on LHN
Ideally for ESPN they can convince Texas to do a Big 12 Channel. They get more football games and content.

Not that there wouldn't be a ton of content available going that route (10 Non-BCS Div. I Texas teams) but don't you think ESPN would push Texas to play ball with the rest of the conference and going the Big XII network route before resorting to putting Rice or UTSA games on the air? I'm sure that's not what Texas wants, but ESPN is the one controlling the money here.

College Football Live
SportsNation
ESPN News

The university really only needs to generate original programming to complement what ESPN can offer.
Edit: Think of the LHN as like North Korean TV. A few cartoons and shows to pump up the troops (ESPN programming) and then show hours of footage of Kim Jong Il (Mack Brown) looking at things. It works over there - at least I don't hear them complaining.
