This conference expansion talk is too time consuming. Too many message board to keep up with, both within the conference, incoming members, outgoing members, rumored members, teams with their futures in jeoporardy, and rivals sites. All with their own unique perspective and spin. But none as big as the *****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****.

FSU to the Big 12 – “It is Inevitable” | College Football News, Opinion and Analysis | Chuck Oliver.Net
According to two people with the strongest ties possible to Florida State's Athletic Department, FSU fully plans on exiting the Atlantic Coast Conference. Florida State will begin its transition to the Big 12 Conference beginning this June. One source went as far as to say, "at this point the move is inevitable."

I don't care either way, but it seems like adapting to the marketplace is a good business practice.

From Twitter (SIAP):
@DaveSittler Big 12 expansion breakdown: 4 schools OK with it, 4 on fence, 1 pushing hard to make it happen, 1 pushing hard to prevent it
Who's who and where does Iowa State fall in that mix? I'm guessing we are one of the four school OK with expansion. I wonder who is pushing hard, both for and against.

From that article:
John Swofford took over as commissioner of the ACC in 1997. At that time, the ACC had the richest media rights deal in college athletics and the crown jewel of the of college sports world in many peoples opinion was the ACC Basketball tournament. 15 years later Swofford faces the fight of his life to keep his league relevant in a rapidly changing world of college athletics.
Failure to capitalize on what they had at the time.

Texas hard against?

Failure to capitalize on what they had at the time. It's not even failure to capitalize. In those 15 years football became king, and even the ACC saw the writing on that wall, first by adding FSU in the 1990s and then adding Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College in the 2000s. The ACC tried to stay relevant in football, but unfortunately for them every single football program decided to inconveniently take a dump at the same time. When Wake Forest is one of your strongest football programs year in and year out over the last decade and not Florida St, Virginia Tech, Miami, and UNC, you have problems.

Texas hard against? I bet you're right about WVU but I don't know about Texas. That was my guess at first, but I feel like expansion is right up their alley. FSU probably thinks like them in terms of 3rd-tier rights, and it's a more prominent name for them to face (Pac-16 anyone?).
How many schools need to vote in favor of an invite for it to happen in the Big 12? Is it 2/3rds? Sounds like right now it's 5-1 with 4 unsure. Need at least two of those four to vote in favor to get 2/3rds (if that is the number).

Not sure who would be against it. Who hates money? ∞ -

Texas hard against? Wasn't Dodds quoted as saying he and Texas liked 10 but if the other schools wanted to expanded they would play ball?

Re: *****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****
yeah, I don't see Texas being against this, especially since it has been rumored that FSU would be there protected rival. They are probably ecstatic at the prospect of getting the Noles in Austin every other year.

Re: *****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****
Maybe OU?
They don't need the money (will obviously accept and use it). Texas is down so it makes it easier for them to win the conference. Afraid they will get knocked down a spot or two? FSU would be a big challenger on the field and in recruiting for them.
