Money isn't what is important to them. The only reason they want out of this conference is to stop being the understudy of our conference's 800-lb gorilla, Tejas. They don't seem to care that the conference they are trying to join is made up of 600-lb gorillas. But you know the saying, grass is always greener and whatnot.

If the SEC can't renegotiate their TV contract with CBS, Texas A&M isn't going to the SEC.

No, Tammy is gone.

Believe me, I understand that. I'm still trying to figure out what the SEC thinks it is getting out of this deal.

An extra W for 7 or 8 schools each year?

A way into Texas would be my guess. TV sets and recruiting gold mines

According to aggieyell.com Texas A&M has been accepted into the SEC.
So?

Can we get a CyBookie on whether or not A&M is in the SEC by 6PM on Thursday when the Louisville game kicks off, and the season officially starts?

SEC is already in Texas to a large degree. The only thing I can come up with is down the road they want an SEC network and figure A&M will give them leverage to add the SEC network to the basic carriers in all of Texas???
For the near term there isn't much of anything there for the SEC though other than diluting their brand and cause a problem with finding a #14.
I can't believe there aren't more schools in the SEC that are not in favor of this move.
If this goes through (and yes I think it is going to happen), I predict they will regret the move down the road. If it forces them to take WVA as #14, which looks to be somewhat possible, the SEC just shot themselves in the foot to a degree IMO.

Which I can't figure out why this would be a big deal to the SEC - they only have won the last 5 national championships without inroads to Texas recruiting, and, as of the moment, don't have their own cable network, so Texas TV sets are rather useless...

Money may still be squeezing their nuts:

The Big 12 agreed to a 13-year television deal with Fox Sports in April worth more than $1 billion. There is a chance the contract could be voided if the Aggies leave the conference, which could lead to legal issues for Texas A&M and its new league.

In all seriousness:

I would think that the current 12 teams would want a guarantee that they are going to get an increase at least equal to their proportionate share before they accept A&M. That might be what is holding them up and maybe A&M's handlers haven't given them the ok from the SEC yet.
