ACC has already said that they see themselves as an eastern time zone, east coast conference and don't have any interest in going outside of that.

Good, that's just less teams for the Big 10 to choose from and moves ISU up higher in the pecking order. I know, I know it'll never happen.

That tweet makes zero sense. So, OU stays (conference lives) and MU and KU will leave paying exit fees?

There really isn't anything Bebee could have done differently.
There isn't anybody to blame for this situation. If we were in the same position as A&M, OK, or Texas we would be doing the same thing.

Disagree. I'll absolutely blame OU here. A couple weeks ago the 9 remaining members had committed to staying. Then they started talking about leaving even though there were viable candidates for invites out there. Now, with it clear the Big East is MUCH weaker than the big 12 if the big 12(9) stay together, there is no excuse for not just grabbing a few of those and moving on as the big 12. Cant blame 'stability', when youre the one causing the instability and there are extremely viable options.

Maybe I'm crazy...but I don't see 4 16 team superconferences either. I think we'll have 5 conferences that are BCS-level. I think with the changing landscape in college athletics and the inevitable Congressional interference, existing BCS schools will not be left without a home and more teams will be added to the BCS level to avoid the *** storm that would happen if teams are left out.

I think we are in the Big 12 at end of day in some sort. Either we get hosed and have to rebuild it with the exit fees and some TV contracts, or a plan like rebecacy stated is actually working.

We have hashed out the hosed part so I will take a look at "the plan". I am guessing here, I do not know rebeca, so I'm stabbing at the dark.

Plan:

Throw feelers out to conferences and get juices flowing. Talk about asking to contact Pitt, Louis and the other team I can't remember. Don't contact these and put the BE schools in panic mode and see if they shake loose. ACC gets nervous and aggressive and a couple higher BE schools jump and make that conference a mess. (Remember they have only a $5MM buyout clause and we dont want to be the one that could cause the conference to collapse because we contacted them).

We comeback together and pull BYU and handpick a couple more from the better teams of the BE. TCU gets nervous and never joins and comes to us and we grab Louis as the closest and most attractive north team. Then if we chose we go after a few others if we want 14 or 16 teams. Is this what are "the plan" is basically supposed to look like rebecacy? You said its unfolding and wanted to know if I have a feel for this? I hope so, but am very nervous about this.

I do feel that if we hold either UT/TT or OU/OSU we will be relevant and be able to last into the future. If we hold all with a few policy changes we will be a very strong conference. I don't understand why, especially with the BE staggering, we can't bury hatchettes and prosper. I guess I don't understand texas and okie chest thumping.

One thing I believe is, if OU and UT don't go pac'n now, they never will. I think a no now would either burn or severely char that bridge with the pac and make them feel they were used.

While I like your opinion, that conference would not retain a BCS bid. Along with that, it's unlikely that exit fees would be paid since the future of a conference minus OU and UT is unlikely. I think your conference design is likely which would be great for us. We would be in the highest 2nd-tier conference with money similar (maybe a little less) than what we are getting now, and we'd be even more competitive for championships.

I disagree. First of all that whole conference is made of current BCS teams. Pulling the rug out from under them would be really hard to. As for the quality, I think there is enough there. OkSt. is a top 10 team. TCU has been a solid program. Baylor looks pretty good this year. Louisville, Cinci, USF and UCONN have all had recent success. We are on the upswing. I just think that would be solid enough to save our AQ. We wouldn't make a load of money put at least we stand a chance to get on the map for future realignments. The teams that will be hurt are the Colorados and Washingtons of the world. Now, not only do they have a couple powerhouses holding them down, they may have 4-5. We have maybe on or two now and they aren't Texas or Oklahoma. From a sheer competetive standpoint without talking about recruiting (which I think is minimally hurt by this set up) we are better off.

We will also be able to collect exit fees. The conference can't disband without at least one more being collected.

They're doing what is best for them, exactly the same thing we'd be doing in their position.

I'm very disappointed in Beebee. Everyone should have gotten their issues resolved last summer. The fact that is happened two years in a row is poor leadership. IMHO

The current leadership is twiddling their thumbs while other conferences poach our members. We should have been the ones doing the poaching all along.

I'd argue he has done pretty well, who has officially left??? Who stopped the SEC? Who extended the discussion out over several weeks?? Who made it look like the Big east is also imploding and all of college football is out of control. Who increased legal and government scutiny?? All good. I do think he is executing someone elses strategic plan but so far so good. Not a single team has gone anywhere. Too many chicken littles bouncing off the nearest wall on this and nearly every site.

I honestly think this will happen. That or ISU is on the outside looking in.

The 4x16 model is going to happen out of fear and its going to move quickly. Nobody wants it, but nobody can stop it.
