You're confusing Mizzou being difficult with the media (particularly ESPN) flinging poo against the wall to see what will stick.
Unlike last year, Mizzou has said they are in favor of the Big 12 sticking together, and that was good enough for everyone until some random report out of Birmingham, AL said Mizzou had accepted an invite to join the SEC. The only network I saw to post this? ESPN. They are the ones driving this and making it look like schools are being difficult. Keep in mind it's ISU that ESPN is blaming for A$M taking more than a month to join the SEC because we decided to sue them when:
1. ISU never said they were suing A$M, but we weren't giving up our rights to sue, and
2. We were hardly the only school to hold onto our right to sue, but ISU shouldered far more than its blame for that and ESPN publicly ostricized ISU for that.
Basically, I no longer trust ESPN when it breaks news - I need to see two or three other competing websites reporting a similar story before I believe, because I no longer believe that ESPN is an objective source of information, especially when I am more convinced thsn ever that they are actually driving this train.

If its now official, it's a month and a half and 14,700 posts later. Wonder if A&M will look back 10 years from now and feel like they have made the right move. Heard they gave the finger to Neinas - someone is getting paid off to make the move. Now they hoped to not pay an exit fee. I say stick it to them.

They wanyted the league to dissolve with no exit fees. Now they are looking at big Baylor bucks or $25M or so to exit. The grass is always greener on the other side. I think we need 12 teams in the worse way and a conference game to get back our mojo. And we need to collect all the mason jars and ship them to College Station because they are in short supply.
Our biggest problem is SEC needs a 14th team bad and they want to be poirates. Slive is working it.

re: *****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****
A question that I didn't think of until now. How much money would we receive for a champ game? I was in favor of adding one team now (BYU IMO) and then picking up 2 from BE (Louis and another) after their 2 or so year before they can leave. I figured this would line up with our tier one very well and keep from destroying the BE.
If we can get enough for a champ game though, maybe we can use that and Tammy exit fees to bump to 12 right away. I would just as soon not be the one who gives the final death blow to a conference with what we just went through. Plus, if they can stay together and add teams, it comes like a starter conference to develop teams that aren't quite there to being acceptable schools. It also adds a little more of a buffer to keep the big 12 together.
The conference we will always have to watch is the PAC. They are landlocked and we are the only big conference next to them.

Per Twitter: Sources tell Orangebloods.com the #SEC and Missouri are still in contact. B12 won't stabilize until Mizzou states its future plans.

Putting on my tinfoil hat.
Does look like espn is driving this train to kill the big 12. I think they learned a long time ago there was major money to be major in collegiate athletics and it became about that and not sports reporting.

I tend to believe that this is just posturing on Mizzou's part, in order to help the B12 hold some cards for the ongoing negotiations with Texas.
Now that OU is off the table, the only card that the B12 holds is Mizzou going to the SEC and blowing up the conference.
Certainly it's not quite as big of a stick as OU because the B12 could probably live on without Mizzou, but it is something for UT to consider.

Deaton didn't give consent because he couldn't is the story people close to the situation give. It sounds like he needs to meet with his board, and that he was trying to convince them to give that rights consent.
Now that A/M is gone, I think Neinas will streamline him agenda and get UT to agree to share 1st and 2nd Tier, and Mizzou on board with the grant of rights. This needs to happen first, and then we start looing for a replacment or extra members.
