Nobody in any conference is 100% committed as long as there is a better offer out there to be had. So unless you have the largest conference revenue you are always open for options if they come your way...

I hope we can get back to 12 teams. Get back to having a championship game with 2 split divisions. Get in the oppositive division as Texas/OU and have a legitimate shot to play in the Big 12 championship.

All 9 are committed assuming we can lure a strong 10th team. May even go to 12 teams if everyone agrees. If not, OU heads west to the PAC and then all hell breaks loose and ISU ends up in some hodge podge hybrid BEAST/B12/ACC conference.

Actually, that scenario would not be a bad landing place for us Cyclones should the Big 12 blow up; better than the WAC, MWC, C-USA, MAC, or, heaven forbid, the Sunbelt Conference.

To answer the OP's question... Missouri DEFINATELY wants out. They've tried once and failed to go to the Big 10, and have made no bones about the fact that they still want out. All Gary Pinkel did at the Big 12 media days was whine about Texas and the LHN. Missouri wants out BAD.

At first I was ticked off about A&M, and still am I somewhat, but after letting this whole thing sink in a bit, A&M is being pretty smart here and I can't blame them for what they are doing.

If two months ago ISU had the chance to join the Big 10, would we have done so? I sure hope we would have. A&M isn't stupid, they can see the instability of the Big 12. They are being proactive here. They are watching out for themselves. They will be a LOT more stable in the SEC than in the current Big 12.

While we will be standing around wondering what our fate will be, A&M will know their fate, and it will be pretty stable. They are being smart.

That's why I'm beginning to think that if we get the chance to jump to the Big East, we might want to take it? We need to start watching out for our own backs. We don't want a situation where we stand around too long and end up being the odd team out in the end with no place to go.

I'm not sure I need to get in an argument with you over the quality of our program. Our improved record over the past decade speaks for itself. You have some valid points, but we are trying to build into a permanent top tier program just as I'm sure you would love to.

Believing that the Big 12 is the only conference that favors the top dog schools is ignorant. Texas will be ranked ahead of Mizzou no matter what conference you are in or what your record was the year before. Just like Ohio State would be in the Big 10 or Alabama in the SEC. I won't argue that the Big 12 is stable right now, but schools better really do their homework before they are convinced they have a better deal somewhere else before they get locked into another situation.

Texas will be ranked ahead of you guys irregardless of the conference you are in or your record. If you want to build into a top tier program, the SEC isn't going to do you any favors. You were in the process of building it in the Big 12 and making huge strides playing teams like ISU, KSU, KS, and Baylor. Get used to being the SEC's doormat.

Exactly. Missouri would join the SEC West and have LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas annually plus potential for crossover games with Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and whoever joins the East. Have fun with that
