BYU and Louisville not interested??
BYU, Louisville not interested in Big 12 - CBSSports.com
I found the headline very interesting considering there are no quotes that mention the Big 12 or the fact that they wouldn't be interested. They said they're happy with where they're at, exactly what you'd expect them to say and they have to say, but nowhere did they deny interest in the Big 12 if they came calling.

Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
A lot of people are doubting the possibility of BYU being interested in joining the Big XII because they just went independent. However, BYU went independent ONLY to form their own network, and their previous conference wouldn't let them do that...the Big XII will. I think BYU is interested in joined the Big XII. 1. They join the Big XII and the conference reaches stability. 2. They join the big XII and the conference still dismantles--they'll most likely get an invite to a better conference or they'll just go back to being independent. This is how I see it.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
How about Tulsa? Good size stadium. Good recuriting area. Should be able to recurit well if in the BIG 12.

The Big XII isn't going to invite a school like Tulsa for the same reason ISU didn't get an invite to the Big Ten last year. They are a non premiere school in a state the conference has no pressing desire to expand in.

How about Tulsa? Yeah, how about them. It might be better to rope in Dan McCarney's school which is on the rise.
Seriously, let's rob Arizona State or Pittsburgh.

Agreed. BYU also went independent because Utah was invited to a BCS conference. Joining the B12 would allow BYU to claim the same.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
I had a conversation with the guy who runs the BYU Football Blog last night and he says that BYU hasn't been contacted by the Big 12 and has heard no evidence that BYU would not be interested in joining the Big 12. A lot of BYU fans are behind them joining the Big 12. Would paste the convo but I'm on my ipod.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
BYU also has nothing to lose if the Big 12 went shaky again. They are set up for Independence, so if things go to **** they're in the same place they started.

This. It is an absolute win-win for BYU to join. They can enjoy the increased revenue while keeping their infrastructure of independence in place (should the conference explode). Plus, one of their reasons for going independent was that they wanted more national exposure than the Mountain West could provide. I'm certain the Big XII can provide much more of that than their independence.
I really, really, REALLY want BYU if A&M goes. Other than the pie-in-the-sky ideas like Arkansas/ND/etc., they are truly the ONLY viable alternative that I think suits the conference. It is make or break in my opinion.

This. Beebe made a mistake not asking them to join.
People think A&M is beefed about Texas having money and power...but I'm sure BYU just loves the idea of Utah joining the Pac 12 and has no desire to match them. My @$$.
Even if A&M joins, Beebe should admit he was wrong, ask BYU to join, and the next time this $hitstorm happens we're in a little stronger position in market footprint, quality of football, and football tradition. The Big Ten did fine with 11 teams for nearly a couple decades.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
I know Baylor is a pipsqueak in the B12 but would their religious affiliations be enough to stir up an anti BYU sentiment with some of the schools?
I wouldn't think they could but Baylor does have a lot of friends in the legislature/state of Texas somehow.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
They didn't say they weren't interested at all. They merely said that they are happy with being an Independent and the Big East.
Re: BYU and Louisville not interested??
But we have to remember that we're all a little biased on this situation. We all want BYU to join.
I seriously believe a lot of these schools are very concerned about the overall stability of the Big 12, and how Texas rules everything. Does BYU really stand to make much more money by joining the Big 12? I don't know. Maybe someone else does?
But right now, we are probably the least stable conference out there. Not exactly what schools might be looking for?

Baylor would welcome BYU with open arms if they knew what was good for them.
