I've seen some quotes that suggest the conference would welcome them back, but IMO that's a terrible move. A&M is a trouble maker, and is undoubtedly the least committed member of the Big 12. As long as they're around they are going to *****, whine, and basically be a problem.
I understand that they're a valuable member, blah blah blah, but since we've come out and said that if A&M leaves, we'd move forward with expansion, I just don't see why we don't boot them any way, and continue with that same expansion.
It's like you're wife started having an affair, told you she was leaving, packed her ****, and when she got to her boyfriend's place found that he had changed the locks. You don't take that **** back.
I think allowing A&M to continue as a Big 12 member would further destabilize the conference and continue to hurt our national image. Keep them and add BYU and another team. The way to win is on the field.
With USC down, the Big 12 has the 2nd best actual quality of football even with realignment, we wouldn't be in danger of extinction if we were aggressive in adding teams.
If we boot A&M for trying to leave, we'd need to boot Texas and Missouri too.

I don't know what's going to happen, but I think it's a very possible outcome that A&M's membership is denied. Maybe Chizik can talk to his President and put in a good word to shoot TAM down....

Re: How to deal with A&M?
Texas A&M obviously wants out that is for sure and to be honest let them go if they get rejected by the SEC because of votes and the possible lawsuit; then they try to come back vote their *** out and go get another team. If the Big Twelve lets atm back the conference will NEVER be stable which is what the remaining 9 teams want. All atm had or has to do is just win and get into BCS bowls and then you are out of the longhorns shadow, but they could not do that and now it is all about me type crap. Let them go go get a good team which everyone agree's on in the conference and live to play another day.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
Iowa State has to sit back and just let it ride at this point because we do not really have a say in anything because lack of winning and not bringing more money to the conference because of this. Same goes for Iowa State just win if you win then you have more cards to play with.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
ISU desperatly needs that 4th non conference game...we need it really bad. I would hope JP is working the phones with all the SEC presidents as we speak. You know, telling them how cool A&M is and how great a conference partner they are and whatnot...

Re: How to deal with A&M?
Would love to keep A&M. Their other sports are amazing. They just became the first track team in history to win back to back NCAA Championships in womens and mens track and they won womens bball. Plus their football team is very good and their mens bball has gone to the NCAA 6 straight years. They feel the conference is ran by Texas and I think there's a lot to that. If we really want to fix this, Texas needs to work towards creating a conference where each member feels like an equal. I really don't see that happening.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
It's nice to debate this, but Al you gotta know they would be right back in the B12 and we'd just take it day by day from there. I know it sucks, but that is the realism of what happens if the SEC turns them down.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
Does playing cupcakes really prepare you for The Big Twelve? I think not if we have to schedule that 4th non con game it should be a team that is in the BCS. Blowing out the little guy gives your team some confidence yes, but does it prepare for the big boys? GO......

I am really trying to understand why some of you people have such a hard on for strength of schedule. Sure, we could play Texas, tOSU, USC, and others every year, but you know what would happen? We would get our ***** handed to us. Strength of schedule means nothing if we aren't consistently getting to bowl games.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
BCS team could range from USC (will never happen) to Duke ( never happen as well) I am not saying schedule tough as nails, but not cupcakes all the time, you play better comp you get better yourself and more exposure for ISU because of a better chance to be playing on a TV network. More fans would rather watch a BCS team play ISU (except for in state rivals) than say south dakota state, plus you would sell more tickets as well.

Re: How to deal with A&M?
The reality is that the SEC is not going to extend an invite to A&M because they now know they will have to fight a $1 billion lawsuit for voiding the Big 12's TV contract with Fox, and the Big 12 knows they need to take A&M back because not doing so would void the TV contract as well.
Hurt feelings, anger, jealousy, ect don't matter. So we can debate whether A&M should be welcomed back all we want, but money trumps everything. Not trying to be cynical. Just being a realist.
