I dont want to doubt them, but there would seem to be ALOT of overhead costs associated with this, and they are only charging $80/year? How many people are they expecting to subscribe to this?
I don't think so. Once you upgrade to HD, you pretty much take care of it. Most of the infrastructure for this type of thing (cameras, announcers, etc) are already in place at their venues.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
I would think places like ISU could land 50,000 - 100,000 subscribers. Depends on what they broadcast I guess....If there is actually contenet on there that I want to see, I will pay for it.
we have all the locals, but there are a ton of alumni around the country. Not a bad idea from K-state. I am still confused how a university goes about getting their feed out there..Is this just internet based? If so..then its just a better version of the Clonezone.
I have a fear of things becoming too saturated. But I don't know.

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum....

If they had 2-3 football games on their per year I don't think 50,000 alumni would not be too far fetched. I guess there are a lot of ISU tightasses out there so you are probably right. I first thought they were trying to offer an actual TV channel from the CBS sports package as pay per view. I was a tad confused..
Now if it stayed like the clonezone right now....then they won't get much.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to broadcast any games that are picked up by a network, so I doubt there will ever be more than a game or 2 available each year. Even so, its considered "great attendance" if JTS hits the 50,000 mark, and there is no way you are going to have more people watching a game from their computer than you have inside the stadium. I highly doubt K-State gets more than a few thousand people to subscribe to this, and ISU would be around the same number...
Sounds like a good idea. We should be all over this.
i agree we should, and our clone zone sucks. the video feed was terrible, and the camera angles were awful. Lets not fall behind the waste side. UNI game should be broadcast free over the web in HD. Sell advertising, make a few dollars.

I agree. Most of the cost is going to be in setup. Maintaining it won't be bad at all, especially when you consider the number of students that would love to do this as a internship. Further, it looks like they have teamed up with CBS in some way so they might be getting assistance from them.
HD is more advanced than clonezone. I was just in Manhattan last week. There is not much to do out on the high plains unless you ride horses. They need enetertainment, even if it is Bill Snyder lip syncing.
Funny you should say that. I have often thought they got the idea of bringing Grandpa back from "retirement" from this movie:
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

This. I'll pick clonezone up for the month that they have a football game I can't see on TV/go to in person, but for HD, I would definitely be willing to pay for it, especially if we could get everything on it. And I'm a poor grad student.

Upgrade Clone Zone to HD, make Jon Walters the face of the network, and link the network to the University. Speakers, lectures, classes all broadcasted.
