To be fair, would you want to be behind the waste side?

didnt I read that Mizzou is planning an online channel that also sounds just like an upgraded clone zone? I don't see how these channels will bring in much revenue.
Do you suppose a Television station would be a good foundation and framework to build on. Oh wait..........that ******** Pomerantz already sold ours. Maybe we could buy back WOI?
This K-State network should be a tremendous flop. What are they going to do... put this garbage on for programming?

I would say many of the 35,000 or so hardcores at JTS most weekends would pony up for it.
Then, you look at nation wide alums who live too far from Ames to go to games on a regular basis, and I don't think it's at all crazy that it could get up to/over 50,000. 100,000 seems like a stretch, but not 50,000.
Regardless I do believe ISU needs to update CloneZone to HD and at least attempt at expanding.. If you can get a nice clear picture onto CloneZone then I think you'll see more people subscribe, not to mention the idea that internet-based TV is continuing to expand. Put more olympic sports on there, broadcast some university activities, etc. and you could find content.
You could even throw in some of the crappy shows that are currently shown on ISUtv (channel 18) to fill in some time voids if you really wanted too... ;)
I don't see any way in HELL we could get to 50,000. And I don't see Pollard pulling it off...I doubt there's much money to be made. Advertising will be a tough sell because there aren't many Iowa State fans out there. I can see a lot of CFers getting it because we're the biggest fans, but someone who just watches stuff leisurely isn't going to buy it.
Of course you don't see any way in hell we get 50,000.
Let's just do the math: there are 50,000 people at Jack Trice for an early season game. About 30,000 of them are probably hardcore enough to buy something like this.
There are AT LEAST 20,000 alums/fans around the country/world that would love to see these games, but they're too far away. 20,000 isn't really that much you know.
Now I agree that there might not be much money to be made, but with low over head, who knows? Do you really think there are that many more KSU fans out there?
Here is more info: ISUtv | Student Television - Iowa State University
They already air their station live online for free so you can watch some shows, not sure about the quality, but it is something by the students.
50,000 subscribers x $10 a month = 6 mil a year. Make it part of the season ticket package, upgrade it to HD. put the uni game on it. If it had new content everyday id subscribe.
But that 30,000 is grossly high. You and a significant other have season tickets so you can cut that number in half because both people aren't going to buy it. People aren't going to pay a premium to see the volleyball team or Clonezone subscriptions would be through the roof. Like the LHN, one football game won't cut it and attendance shows people don't care to see basketball games against no-name directional university.
And it isn't terribly cheap to do something like this. You have to pay someone a decent chunk of change to host it all for you. I'll ge pretty surprised if K-State doesn't lose their *** on it. The thing they have going for it is it being tied academically to the University.
