So, they'd rather determine what teams in their conference go where rather than sitting on their hands while the big boys steal whatever they want. Good call. There may even be some rational team swapping there, like the Big12 getting TCU to be our 10th before getting too entrenched into Big East culture.

Makes sense, Big XII and Big East, and to a lesser extent the ACC, are all in danger of being plundered by the SEC, Pac 12 and Big 10. It'd be good for them all to be in contact.

if A&M leaves
big 12 - 9 teams
ACC - 12 teams
Big East - 8 teams

that's 29 teams for football and if the big east got split up, would that force ND to join either the big 12 or ACC because of their other sports? that makes 30 teams, 15 teams for the big 12 and 15 for the ACC.

edit: forgot about TCU joining Bthe Big East. so without ND it's 30, with them it's 31

Seems like a wise decision because depending upon how this goes down it could be one of these conferences meeting its' demise... Either the Big 12 goes down and needs it's members getting into the Big East or the Big East gets poached like crazy and needs a home for its' remaining members...

What?! You mean secretly telling a team that that you are interested in having them and then have them petition to leave their conference so they can join yours but all the while publicly stating that you aren't interested in having them isn't the right way?

So maybe they turn 3 conf into 2 Super conf if they add a few teams?
