It's obviously BS, but it just shows you the perception that people have. Most of the fans realize ISU is above MAC level, but for whatever reason schools like Minnesota and Indiana are seen as better than us.

Big East football has only been around since 1991.

Big East football has only been around since 1991. Ah, that's why. Cool. I wasn't thinking about the history of the conference.

Connecticut: 0-1 (2002)
Pittsburgh: 1-0 (2000)
Syracuse: 0-1-1 (1957 & 1969)
Overall: 1-2-1

Overall: 1-2-1 Wow, even with those additions, I am surprised we haven't played more of them.

Overall: 1-2-1 hopefully we make that 2-2-1 with a win over UCONN this year

Yes, it certainly appears we are MAC level... In fact, just to throw another interesting tidbit out there: Our historical records against conferences show that our 84% winning percentage against the MAC is the second highest against any conference, the first, the Big East where we are 1-0 (Pittsburgh in 2000). Also, 2 of those 4 loses were under Chizik his first year.

Heck, even when NIU was having a great season last year nobody seemed to remember that we stomped them by several touchdowns.
We have a huge image problem. As you pointed out, nobody is going aroudn suggesting that Minnesota and Indiana and other lower tier BCS schools should be demoted. It's really only ISU, Baylor, and (to a lesser extent) K-State that get no love.
To be honest, I blame it a lot of the Chizik years as much as historical records, they are so fresh in everyone's memory and we were really, really, really bad.

Their seating capacity barely meets FBS requirements.

Im guessing it's that they are the dominant schools in their state, while we have a historically good D1 school in ours besides us

ISU vs Baylor: 5-4
ISU vs K-State: 49-41
We've never played Indiana and the Minnesota record is not pretty from the days we played in the early 1900s.
