Re: Pitt to the ACC
The Big East can go to hell. Let's join a real conference or rebuild the Big XII.
LET'S GO STATE! ................................ GO CUBS GO! -
Re: Pitt to the ACC
If we merge with the BE and take those teams, our conference will SUCK. No way UT and OU stick around for that.
This is bad, bad news if Pitt and Syracuse go ACC. REALLY bad IMO.

I love playing the big boys, especially with the direction that CPR and company have our program headed, but think about our options here. I pray that the B12 holds together, but there is a good chance it won't. As long as ISU is still in an AQ conference, who give a crap who else is in it? If the BE remnants merge with the B12 remnants it will keep AQ status. We would have a very legit shot to be a contender for conference championships, therefore BCS bowls. I'd rather see us beat Big East teams and go to BCS bowls than get demoted to the MWC or conference USA.

Re: Pitt to the ACC
Read a nice article yesterday about Boards of Regents, collections of dentists, homemakers and the like, making athletic and academic decisions about which they are not qualified.
If this all works out, the Big Conferences will be in the Rust Belt, the Southeast, the Middle Atlantic and the West Coast. The Central US and the Northeast will be without big football conferences. The student-athletes, what a joke for a description, will have to leap over two, three and four states and more too many times to get to a game, a match or a meet. Travel expenses will explode. More classes will be missed more often and they will be less students and more athletes. All for football.
When will the the university basketball coaches speak out and call for rational thought?
Flights from Norman and Stillwater to Pullman, WA will be real attractive, or how about Tallahassee and Miami to Syracuse in January.
Pick the minor sports that will suffer and probably disappear. Wrestling will take a hit. Many women's sports will take hits.
This all sounds so logical.

If OU\UT stick around, we can cherry pick the best few remainders of the big east and have little problem getting acceptance. Louisville, Cincy should be easy grabs.

Re: Pitt to the ACC
I just laught at the thought that no government intervention takes place if only 64 teams have a shot at the prize. Did commissioners not learn from Utah?

Take BYU, Louisville, and TCU/Houston and HOPE UT and OU stick around.
Do not want Cincy or any other BE teams short of WVU.

At first glance, I think ISU is in better shape now that reports have surfaced about two Big East schools applying to the ACC. The wild scramble will now affect many more schools. Basketball programs will get caught in the flak. This is no longer rational. It's reactionary. In all of the confusion, GG will does us better.

But man, beggers can't be choosers. Unfortunately Iowa State is still a begger in this craphole that is becomming an NFL wannabe college football landscape.

I'd be fine with Louisville, USF & UCF as 3 additions.. I don't know if that'll entice Boren to stay though
