There are definitely quality teams, and honestly at this point OU cannot anymore say that it was impossible to find adequate replacements for TAMU. Between BYU and big east options, this all falls on OU now if this blows up, no excuses from OU about how there were no other options.

Re: Pitt to the ACC
Okay, consider me confused. I thought this OU to the Pac thing was all leverage against UT to share revenue, and that OU was our best friends and we were joined at the hip. Now it is looking like the whole thing is going to blow up and we are going to end up in a Big East conference that will be even weaker than it already is? Awesome.

Re: Pitt to the ACC
I'm not freaking out about this for a few reasons:
1. The Big12, Big East, and ACC met in August to discuss these factors. One would have to assume the cards were all shown in that meeting and the situation is playing out like one of the scenarios anticipated (not saying if that scenario is good or bad for ISU...that is unknown).
2. Pitt and Syracuse are good fits for the ACC. I'm especially interested to see that they are taking the best "geographic" option for their school.
3. These schools were potential B1G targets...so now they are off the table.
4. It isn't the Big 12 that is moving right now. Stability is important for our conference members, and there are plenty of stability and expansion options still out there.

This is important to note. No way can OU claim it had to leave because of b12 stability or because we couldnt find replacement teams. If reports are correct, the ACC has locked in its members with higher departure fees. The SEC already has A&M and just needs one more, which it can get with taking WVU from the BE. The rest of the big east will be ripe for cherry picking to get back to 12 (we can be back to 12 taking only existing AQ teams). The big 10 wont jump higher unless it feels it absolutely has to (it doesnt). The PAC cant really expand unless the b12 teams decide to blow it up.

Heartland Conference

Some nice travel destinations and a few pretty strong programs in that mix....if, of course, Texas decides to stick with us and rebuild the Big 12 remnants. Trips to Hawaii, Vegas and Florida most years...works for me. Would rather sneak into the Big Ten...but trying to be realistic.

I don't agree that those teams are "adequate replacements" for A&M, and I doubt OU thinks so either...

Re: Pitt to the ACC
SIAP, but OU and UT Regents are both meeting on Monday?
That could be a huge day for all of this.

That could be a huge day for all of this. Yep. The Iowa BOR meets on the 20th (Tuesday) and the State of Kansas BOR meets on the 21st and 22nd (Wednesday-Thursday) - Both regularly scheduled but agenda updates could happen.

Pitt to the ACC
I share this sentiment. The more schools and states that are involved in this crap, the more likely it is that someone steps in and tells them to pull their heads out of their *****.
Just my thought though....I could be totally wrong.

But they are not the program they were when they first joined the Big XII. A&M has won only 1 Bowl game in umpteen years. They are not the football power you seem to think they are. They will become even more irrelevant in the SEC.

Re: Pitt to the ACC
I think the SEC would take USF if were talking big east teams

Re: Pitt to the ACC
USF sucks...I don't want a team that is mediocre at FB and sucks at everything else that is geographically out of whack. Terrible choice.

Leaving KU/KSU/ISU/BU and a few others (ECU? UCF? Houston?) to Big East
Where you had 6 BCS conferences of varying size before, you'd now have 5 each with 14 teams. Now the espn lead says Baylor and ISU to BE just in case.
