Larry Scott better have an awfully big bone to throw to those schools if the plan is to throw them in a new 8 team division with the poached Big 12 teams. I have a very strong feeling that ASU and UofA especially would fight tooth and nail against any PAC expansion that involves effectively severing them from their Cali recruiting ties.

And I don't see how 2nd tier academic schools like TT and OSU get in with stances Cal and Stanford have taken in the past. This whole ESPN reports smells fishy, but we'll see.

Maybe the BCS forces the big 4 to each take a leftover and we move on with all 68 teams in place. What about BYU?

I tell ya, if this all turns out to be legit and done by the time we play Texas, I say the band either marches dollar signs like Rice did or just stands there in silence. Pac 12(16), here is your warning...watch your wallets cause those southern states are like a deadbeat boyfriend. They are gonna mooch off your money and leave when the grass is greener.

Re: breaking news headline on espn from pac 12
I think it's nuts for the Oklahoma and Texas schools to join the SEC and Pac whatever and open up Texas recruiting to SEC and attractive west coast schools. I can especially see the California, Oregon and Washington schools reaping big benefits at the expense of Texas, TT, OU and OSU, but they won't find out until it's too late.

From the Denver Post:
"I believe that we should have a robust academic atmosphere among all schools in the league," Benson said. "What schools have cinch courses or gut courses? We don't have any and never will. The Pac-12 doesn't. Some Big 12 schools do."University of Colorado president Bruce Benson said this morning he is wary of further Pac-12 expansion, particularly if Colorado is placed in an "East" division with former rivals from the Big 12 such as Oklahoma and Texas.
"One of the reasons - and there are a lot of reasons - we got in the PAC 12 is to play regularly on the West Coast," Benson said. "When I hear things like East-West divisions, we're going back to the Big 12 again. I don't know who's possibly going, but I sure don't want to get shorted out of the West Coast."
Benson and DiStefano always maintained a major reason for CU joining the Pac-12 was that the schools matched Colorado's academic mission. While Oklahoma and Texas are on a par with CU academically, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State may not be.

Re: breaking news headline on espn from pac 12
If it still takes a majority to disban the conference, seems like there's still a lot of incentive for the 5 remaining to stick together for the big payday.

Maybe somebody in the band dept. can quickly work up an arrangement of "Mo Money Mo Problems" for the band which they can play while they march around in $$$ formations. Then they could have somebody dressed in burnt orange cowboy gear and chaps stand at midfield making it rain.

It needs to be an 8 team playoff with 4 auto bids and 4 at large to give the illusion of access to everyone. Actually Boise State really would have access as of now, but in the long run the non-AQ teams would slip from where they are now.
