Pollard is not contacting conferences it is Geoffrey that does that.

I don't get why anybody is giving more than a passing thought to the whole "Baylor and Iowa State have contacted the Big East" thing. The sky is also blue. Should we stress about that?

If they have contacted them we dont know when they were contacted. ISU likes to do its business under the radiar, so why was there name leaked and the other forgotten schools names not leaked, I am sure they are looking around also.

When did the reported contact occur? What was the actual conversation in this "contact"? Who is the source for Katz/ESPN and what is their interest?

well, here is how Iowa can help us. They may not be able to get us in directly, but how about vetoing any plan that doesn't include us. Do they have veto power??

so excited for the rivalry with Tulsa and UAB. Bring it on!
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

I don't get the theory that the Big 10 "has" to go to 16. They are making a ton of money right now and the teams in their conference have an easier path to the league championship....considering there are only 12 teams instead of 16.

Re: breaking news headline on espn from pac 12
We are in between a rock and a hard place right now.
Our soft landing spot in case the B12 fell apart just got a little rockier, and could turn into an even worse option than the MWC is UConn and RU leave. Regardless if the B10 takes Mizzou I don't see why they would take ISU. They don't need filler schools. They need a revenue getter, or a national powerhouse(or both).
1. We don't bring a sizeable enough revenue to offset splitting it between an extra schools.
2. They don't need anymore stability, nobody within the B10 is looking to leave.
They have no reason to take us other than generosity, which isn't good for business, which is unfortunately what collegiate athletics is becoming more and more of each year...

Generosity, fear of legal or congressional action (taking Nebraska helped destabilize the B12 - and the networks and B1G were involved), or just because we're so darned good looking. I don't care as long as they take us.

I agree, the Big 10 is stable, there are no worries of defection. I don't see them doing anything until closer to 2015 for a couple reasons, they want to see how these super conferences play out, and they will still be able to go after whoever they want.
