Although I do hope they and their money stay in a one school one vote system with equal revenue sharing (which isn't really equal cuz their brand is worth 10x+ ours but you get my drift).

This will probably be our last and best chance to address the elephant in the room. You have been right about this all along, and I hope they continue to execute the plan you laid out. I want Texas in this league, but I don't want to move forward pretending the problem has been solved.

If it is not fixed and really equal, it will detonate like an A-bomb and the big xii will be no more. Has to be done right, or fail. I want Texas (well I want their money) but we can survive and maybe even thrive (with the right growth partners).

With me being on the outside of this thing even I can see the freakin' oil well that we have here if we can just tap it. Yet its Texas we are dealing with here. I was skeptical but hopeful about being able pull back together the B12. However I'm even more skeptical about the group reining in UT.

Folks just need to let the people in charge do their jobs. Good people are on this. We should be very happy on the other side.

What is the one single factor that will never allow for true stability in the Big 12? Texas. Who is going to keep pushing and pushing and pushing for more, despite the fact that it has much more than everyone else already? Texas.
So call their bluff. And if they don't back down, boot 'em. No question, it would be a huge short-term loss. But with time it could pay off with the chance to build a strong, truly stable league. Dump UT, get A&M back into the fold, add TCU and maybe Houston to beef up the Texas presence, then BYU and Air Force to round out a 12-team league with a conference championship.
I'd place a big bet that the level of trust among other league members goes up significantly the day Texas leaves. Money aside, that is worth something.

Re: Can we evict Texas?
God this is stupid. With what looks like OU FINALLY on our side, we have more strength against Texas than we've probably ever had. This is probably also the weakest that Texas has been since entering the Big XII I fully expect the rest of the conference to cage UT now that they're in a corner. They may not be happy at first, but if we can do this now without backing down, I truly believe we can be one of the most stable and powerful conferences in the country when it's all said and done.

Re: Can we evict Texas?
I would love to kick them out. It would be more stable, less profitable. Dodds wants to negotiate with OU. That can't happen. Changes need to be made by all of the schools. Texas has lost some leverage, but not all. It will take time, but I think the more public a negotiation it is the better.

Caught T and T this morning and they actually made a good point. If the Big 12 is to survive and thrive Dan Beebe is the one who needs to be evicted. Guy probably is the worst conference commissioner ever.

He is gone. the new commish is going to have one heck of a job ahead of him. He will need to get everyone to the bargaining table and quickly.

Orangebloods.com - Dodds relieved Big 12 can move forward
After reading Dodds comments here, I don't think this is all that crazy or stupid. Nothing in this statement shows that he is happy about making concessions, nothing about the LHN is going to change. Again, just because we didn't get kicked to the curb, everyone thinks we have won or have Texas by the nads or something. We don't. Nothing has changed. Either fix it or live with the consequences when this happens every August.
