I was just in a group that was addressed by President Geoffroy and he spoke regarding the Big 12 Conference and its future. He said that Brady Deaton, chair of the Big 12 Board of Directors, had named him the chair of the special committee tasked with ensuring and maintaining the stability of the Big 12 Conference. The committee includes 3 other members other than the chair, Pres. Geoffroy, which are the presidents of the University of Texas, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Kansas.

President Geoffroy sounded much more optimistic about the future of the conference than the last time I had the opportunity to hear him speak about it (a week ago - which was prior to the Pac-12's announcement of not expanding). He mentioned that Missouri has "some issues they need to sort out" but is very confident about their continued membership in the conference and the conference's strength going forward.

Thought I would share this information as it's pretty cool GG, and by connection ISU, is leading this committee.

This is not good news for ISU or the Big 12, think about it.. he is a Lame Duck President with zero infulence at his University or the conference. They picked him because of his weak postion...wake up people if he was a strong Player we wouldn't be in this terrible situation. It was under his watch that the downward slide of ISU sports started....we should not let this guy have anything to do with ISU sports!!!!

It's about time that JP and GG had some positions of power in the conference. They are both smart and savvy administrators. They are VERY capable of navigating this whole thing and are qualified to do it. Geoffrey has some free time now and can dedicate more effort to things like this.
