Re: Mizzou Presser
Many in Kansas City have to be very timid about any move to the SEC by Missouri. You won't be seeing the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City anymore and depending upon who we add in you may not see anything Big 12 related really occur in Kansas City. Also, media tension really heats up as previously when you talked Missouri/Kansas or anyone else nearby you were talking about Big 12 and you were obviously interested. Now you have to talk two different conferences and in time neither fan base will really care that much about the other to listen to SEC news or vice verse...
I truly believe that in the end Missouri (in their right minds) would want to stay in the Big 12 as that is what is best for their athletics and their school as a whole.

Finally, a move to the SEC would gut the Mizzou football program far more than it would damage the Big 12. The Big 12 will simply slide in BYU...and perhaps a few more times and move along. Sure...it will hurt to lose Mizzou...but its something that can be recovered from pretty fast with a few additions. Missouri, in my estimation, will make what is a far better long term decision...and stay...rather than join Vanderbilt and Kentucky in the depths of the SEC. Of course, rationality is not always the driving force in these things...so anything is possible.
Let me add...that if the Big 12 should eventually crumble...Mizzou to the SEC moves ISU up a notch in the B1G pecking order. ONLY AAU schools are going to be considered for the B1G...and that group is getting very small these days...KU and ISU make good sense in terms of joining the B1G. Perhaps throw in ND and one other school if the Irish ever show interest (which is doubtful).
I know Nebraska was an AAU school when they joined the B1G but are not anymore. I don't think being a member of the AAU is going to drive any conference expansion. It is all about football and the $$$$$$$.

Re: Mizzou Presser
This is either a terrible bluff by Mizzou or an idiotic move.
Doesn't Mizzou have to fork over their TV money to the Big 12 for 6 years if they leave? So Mizzou has the option to play in the SEC for 6 years at not only a talent disadvantage, but also a financial one? This doesn't make sense to me.
On the flip-side, what does Missouri hope to gain out of the Big 12 if it stays? Their AD has just went from figurehead of the Big 12 Board to Public Enemy #1. Any ideas of revenue sharing discussions can be thrown out since they have already been finalized this past week - so I can't see what their ideal outcome is.
Any way I look at it, any outcome for Missouri looks like a bad situation - is their any positives (for either outcome) that I am missing?

They agreed in principle but haven't signed anything. If Missouri came out and said they were all in on the Big 12, everyone would've signed and we would've moved on as a collective unit. As it is now, everything is still FUBAR. Thanks Missouri, way to be awesome.... Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -

That has not been agreed to at this time.

Re: Mizzou Presser
IF Mizzou goes just watch the Big 12 basketball tournament move to Jerry World in Dallas. He will be all over that. The basketball games held there went over big and he'll see an opportunity there. My vote would be to move it to OKC personally.

I hadn't thought of that, but it would be all but certain. OKC would be acceptable, but Dallas would suck big time.

If everyone has to travel south for football, then everyone can travel north for basketball.

I hate basketball in cavernous football stadiums...OKC would be a great choice for all schools involved

Re: Mizzou Presser
If Missery blows their way out of the Big XII, I hope the remaining 8 are committed. Location of the basketball tournament isn't one of the things I'm worried about. JP and co still have a lot of debt to service and need that contract to stay intact.

by the way... good luck to mizzou on getting negus webster-chan... im sure he wants to play in the MBB cesspool that is the SEC
