2. Show me something other than an unsourced anonymous AP wire story saying ANYBODY from Mizzou wants B1G more than SEC. Nobody. You only want teams that WANT to be in the Big 12. Problem is, based on what we know about other teams exploring their options, you still have about 4 that are lukewarm...rights deal or not.
3. I'm impressed that leaders who have been in charge for ONE WEEK are able to fix all of the governance issues. Im also impressed with your trust in UT...based on what exactly? Their past commitment to this conference? ISU's lack of options? 1. EVERYTHING I have seen has said that CBS and ESPN WILL NOT renegotiate. They will only increase enough to make other schools share not decrease. You have 8 extra conf games and 6 non-conf games. You are counting on a lot of assumptions for the money to rain. I think they are flawed assumptions.
2. Mizzou has wanted Big Ten for a long time. But they aren't expanding right now. And out of other 8, yes they were exploring, but as contingencies. OU and UT WANT Big 12 to survive. I believed that before this saga and I believe it now. Just rea my blog.
3. I have thought that the problems were A&M, MU and NU and that hasn't changed. New leadership just able to get some teeth into commitments.
Don't let perception of what the media tells you is going on cloud your judgement because the media has an agenda called super conferences and all reporting has been slanted toward that view. The reality is not same as perception. The media version of super conferences will NEVER happen. I am as sure of that as I am having Mexican Lasagna for dinner.

Mmm. Mexican Lasagna.
And by the way, since when has a Mizzourian ever thought about anything?
A bad idea to ask what they are thinking: it usually involves one of their close relatives and a steamy valentine card written in crayon.

Not really wanting to join this ******* contest, but here I go. For the sake of argument lets say the SEC payout will be $7 million more than the Big 12. My question to you is what are the athletic budgets of the teams in the SEC? Is being at the bottom of a conference that pays out a few million more better than the middle of a conference that pays out a little less? The thing that gives Texas an advantage over every other school in the country is not the LHN, it is that their athletic department has more money than everybody else. The LHN just gives them more money they don't know what to do with.
If you guys end up going to the SEC good luck. Personally, I'd take dealing with the Big 12 schools over those idiots in the SEC even if their payout was double and they were the worst football conference in the country.

SEC gets about $200 million per year over the next 15 years to be divided up by the teams for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights. Divided by 14 teams that is a little less than $15 million per team. And that figure is locked in for 15 years.
Big 12 gets about $150 million per year for Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights divided by 10 teams. So that is $15 million per year per team. And the Tier 1 rights come up in the next deal in 2016. Those Tier 1 rights currently only pay about $60 million per year. It is expected that those rights will fetch at least $150---$200 million per year on the next contract. That would be a huge increase. Conservatively that would mean around $25 million per team even if the Big 12 goes to 12 teams.
Hope Mizzou enjoys less money. But they will have shown the Big 12. And will have cut off their nose to spite their face.

Senator, NONE of these towns are like Ames.
Have you ever WATCHED College Football Gameday? Or visited any of these places for a game? It's like a festival...even when they're NOT good! Check out the Grove in Oxford, or the area around the Swamp in Gainsville. All of these place make Melrose Ave. in IC seem like church.
I get it...you don't want Mizzou to leave. You think they're gonna get killed in the SEC. You've gone so far as to Photoshop it. That's cool...there's decent arguments for that.
But to argue that SEC and Big 12 road game destinations are equal is "cats-and-dogs-living-together" insanity. C'mon...that's not even a good reason to leave a conference.
Next, you're going to tell me that Mizzou is leaving the Big 12 because they're scared of the new competition being brought in! Yeah, that's what I want to pick my conference on, cool new places to tailgate.

Mizzoulander says the cash is just going to rain in although ESPN and CBS have said they will not renegotiate. They will add an SEC Network for the 8 additional conference games.
In reality, CBS and ESPN have said that they will increase so that each teams share will not decrease, but no more, and you can bet they want those additional 8 conference games and are not going to let them fall to tier III. Therefore, there will be no FB content for an SEC network. There will be other sports, but that won't bring in millions.

Plus, if they decide to build a Tier 3 conference wide network (a la the BTN), each team will earn even more. The BTN distributed about $8M per team last year - the SEC should be able to get at LEAST that much. That's another revenue stream that the Big 12 will NEVER have, thanks to the LHN.
Well, I suppose if each team set up their OWN network, they could. The Clone network would get 3-4 bad Tier 3 games per year, and if they drew 20K PPV subscribers (a HUGE number) per game, they'd have to charge something like $110 per subscriber to make that kind of money (and THAT doesn't include production, which would be of "boom goes the dynamite" quality)
And I haven't even touched on the fact that since the Big 12 doesn't currently have a championship game, that's more lost revenue. Or if you add enough teams to bring a championship game back, you're splitting the pie more way with teams (L-ville? TCU? Tulane?) that aren't pulling in the same revenue as the ones they're replacing.
What am I missing? How could the money NOT be better in the SEC? So if Mizzou is going to help increase the television network so much, why don't they just build their own Tier 3 network in the Big 12. Granted it would not be a big as the LHN, it has two major league cities and a couple more in Columbia and Springfield. They could build from the experience of Metrosports in KC.

Re: What in the world is Missouri thinking?
Wildcat here with an opinion. Hey Mizzou, get the f out. You guys will never be happy anywhere. The Mizzou culmative ego is such that the only way to go and be happy is to go independent. You all think you are an elite university and athletic program when in reality Mizzou is common. A hat pin to the head and ***** will fly from coast to coast. Go! Leave! Do it now! The Big 12 will be much better off when the cancer that is Mizzou has been discarded.

Nice show on the field today vs KSU as well. Rock on Mizzou! Neinas said the contract would have to go up $168M in value in order for team dollars to stay the same.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
