ESPN : W Va additon on hold
West Virginia Mountaineers' move to Big 12 on hold, source says - ESPN
Sounds like once again Misery is at the root of all problems. Can't we just vote them off the island??
My self, I'd rather have Louisvelle or BYU.

Re: ESPN : W Va additon on hold
If those ****** bags from Missouri leave, we will get Louisville, and maybe Cincy or BYU.
I welcome WVU, or anyone who realizes the Big XII IS the best 'total' FB conference right now, and should be protected and an invitation relished!

Re: ESPN : W Va additon on hold
People w sources on the louisville and wv sites are saying its sen. mcconnil throwing his weight around and not mizzou thats holding this thing up...

Re: ESPN : W Va additon on hold
Why does adding WV hinge on Mizzou leaving?
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -
Re: ESPN : W Va additon on hold
I'm guessing its lawyers for both the conference (B12) and Mizzou that are holding the Tigers up. They are probably trying to negotiate exit fees, timelines, etc. etc.
I'm guessing TV contract language is the biggest holdup in all of this, especially for Mizzou leaving because from what I gather, the instant the Big 12 becomes a 9-team league the current contracts can be voided by the networks.

Alls the more to add WVU now. Puts us at 11 when MU leaves it drops to 10.

Re: ESPN : W Va additon on hold
What I don't understand is why we dont just add Louisville and West Virginia right now and be a 12 team conference and if Missouri leaves just bring in Cincinnati or BYU I understand the desire to be a 10 team conference cause it creates more competition but by adding those two or three teams we create something much more desirable then competition we get STABILITY

The MO pot room is starting to stink.
B12 should just add WVU and Louisville now as #11(CU replacement) and #12 (Nebby replacement). If MO leaves sometime in the next year or two, we find a replacement. Tell ND they can bring their their tubas and violins too. We cannot wait for MO to stall till they get a free exit. The MO exit fee will still be onerous. It will take them 10 years to get back with the SEC money, unless they have a wealthy alum willing to part with funny money like aTm had.

I wish conf. could just contract teams. Quit waiting for mizzou to leave and just kick them out.

They feel a Conference Championship game increases the odds that they lose a potential shot at BCS or NC game. I'm fairly sure the rest of the conference has no problem going back to 12.

A significant number of B12 members do not want to expand beyond 10 at this time (including UT).
That means one spot is opening for either WVU or L-ville. Some prefer the Cardinals, some the Mountaineers. Some haven't decided.
NOTHING is contigent on Missouri's formal withdrawal. The buyout amounts will be more than NU paid, but less than $25M. That's a big range, and that's part of the hold up.
So long as the SEC is OK with it, Missouri has no reason to speed that up (other than to please fans).

The SEC is going to be just fine poaching your recruits, violating its own fishbowl rule, and making you feel very welcome in the SEC East division. Nothing says SEC East like Missouri. And how about being the third best Tiger team in your own conference? That sure is something that would really make me smile as a Mizzou fan. Brilliant.
Don't worry. Missouri football's talent level will drop off dramatically soon enough. And then you guys can chant SEC over and over during your weekly public curb stompings, both at home and away. At least that cute little chant will give your crowd something to occupy themselves with. You can cheer for the conference, because you guys are gonna suck. Again. And soon.

IO thought the confernece game brought in $2-3M more for each member. Hey, this is about money. Go play a conference game and have 12 members. How scared was Bobby Stoops to play Nebby or MO or KSU in a conference game. Probably less scared than playing Bosie State in the BCS.
