Re: T Gill at KU vs Gene Chizik at ISU
Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt Gill inherited as little as Chizik did. Mac's 2004 and 2005 classes were BAD. I hate to be one to stand up for Chizik, but he only inherited about 50 scholarship players before he signed his first recruiting class. Only about half of those 50 were 3* recruits, and about half of those 3* recruits were just redshirt freshmen in Chizik's first year. Meyer, Blythe, Rubin, Banks, and Bowen were good players, but other than them our players were either young, under-talented, or both.
We're still building our way up from that. Rhoads inherited a better roster than Chizik, but we were still pretty far behind most of the Big 12. Simply having to make the change delayed our progress, but Rhoads is a much better fit for ISU and the change resulted in more wins in the short-term and will in the long-term as well. Based on what we've seen in recruiting and on the field, we will be significantly improved after a couple more recruiting classes and once Rhoads' recruits are upperclassmen.
Sorry to go off on a tangent but it seemed like a relevant point.

From what I've heard some of the big boosters have already agreed to take care of the situation. Plus if you sell 10,000 less seats a game you'll lose a lot more than that in one year and you could easily lose that much gate. I don't know a single Jayhawk that supports Gill right now. Honest question, not a flame: would KU fans want to take back Mangino if they could right now?

Saw an article where he said he wanted to get back into coaching and felt he had learned from some of his mistakes. There would be way too much controversy if he was re-hired but a lot of fans were not happy he was fired and Gill was not a popular hire.

He is popular because he won. But he was administrators nightmare. Just like LE.

Maybe there was some Prince guy at KU that everyone did forget about, but most likely you got your schools confused. Originally Posted by CarolinaCy What about Mike Leach? I'll be the first one to jump on the Turner Gill bandwagon and say that KU should keep him. He's been great for ISU football.
