Re: Rising Stars At QB BIG 12 BLOG
We got completely overlooked this week from Ubben, especially with the awards from last week, no CPR in coaching..... Worthless writer.

If you look at his body of work since he got the gig, he has been very fair to ISU; moreso than many other media hacks.

IIRC, Ubben gave us a helmet sticker last week. In all fairness, Ubben is generally pro-ISU. Last week was pretty crazy in the B12, and it would be really easy to overlook a game in which the second half was "boring" compared to the rest of the league.

"Iowa State's running game: Can't narrow this one down to one player, either. A week after Oklahoma struggled to run against Texas Tech (just 124 yards), the Cyclones rolled over Texas Tech for 368 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Texas Tech. Just unbelievable. Jared Barnett's reinvigorated the team, and after this development, both teams are a bit of a scary matchup. James White and Duran Hollis both topped 100 yards. "
Ubben is a little troll who is far from perfect, but he has given ISU a fair shake. If you want to find something about ISU's last game, dig deeper than the first page in the Big 12 blog and you can find it. He may say he can't explain what happened in Lubbock, but seriously, who can? That doesn't make it a shot.
You need to dig a little deeper and stop looking for things to be ****** off about.

I have no problems with Ubben:
Gerrit (Iowa State)
Since I dont think you have ever been to jack trice, now that Nebraska is gone are you going to make a game? David Ubben (3:22 PM)
Nope. I've been to a game at Jack Trice. My dad graduated from Iowa State, actually. We'll see about this season. ISU's gotta win more games. We usually go to the biggest one in the Big 12 each week.

I'd rather have two more wins than a hundred thousand internet awards from adoring bloggers, and Ubben has been outstanding this year.
If Iowa State wants to be on the radar, it's very easy: get to 8-4, starting by getting above .500 next week.
If, for example, our record was as bad as Kansas and we beat TT, we'd have gotten more attention. If we hadn't dropped a brick against Texas, Mizzou and Baylor, we'd have gotten more attention.
And just to prepare you: it won't be a conspiracy if we get no internet awards next week either, even if we score 1000 against KU. KU isn't good and isn't interesting to write about.
Now, if we lose, that's a whole other story. We'll get plenty of attention then, and rightfully so.
If we want awards late in the season, we have to win more than one big game in a month.
[Don't get me wrong - I'm still on air following the Poleaxing in Lubbox, a great win, but national love is a scattershot affair: you have to string the media along before they bite. For four weeks, we gave them a baitless hook.]
