I guess, if I was a Mizzou fan I'd want to stay in the Big 12 for multiple reasons.

However, I do think it's somewhat ironic that some folks on this board claim that the Big 12 is the best conference in the nation but then say Mizzou will get consistently stomped in the SEC.

In the LSU-Bama thread there were multiple people claiming the Big 12 is better than the SEC. And, I personally think over the last decade plus there is an argument to be made that that is in fact true.

As for the part about Mizzou getting stomped, I think you can find that in a lot of posts on the board.

It's primarily so we can say "I told you so" when you guys are nothing but afterthoughts in the SEC. We can look at your situation from an objective position. You cannot.

There is a reason everyone not in SEC land (although it does include many in SEC land as well) think it is a bad, BAD move for Mizzou.

Can't say we didn't try to look out for you.

The difference is Mizzou is able to recruit Texas right now and excel the Big 12. Their move to the SEC will make it very difficult to get Texas recruits from here on out.

MU looks like a bunch of morons in this, and I think a large part of the fanbase is likely to regret the move in a few years if they don't already. Not one MU fan I know here in K.C. thinks the move makes sense. Not a single one.

I think if every ISU fan honestly takes a look deep within themselves they would have to admit a small tinge of envy. It's WAAAY down in there, but it is there.

The Big 12 was a powder keg not long ago and we were going to be left out in the cold with nowhere to go. Having a big time football conference be interested in taking us would feel pretty good.

I would also state that I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks that the Big 12 is completely out of the woods yet.

As I stated in an earlier post, Missouri has always just kinda been there for me. Indifferent would be a good word. I would assume many here are the same way, but the relatively recent flurry of threads on Missouri and their dumb choice are part truth and part envy....

I'm generally indifferent to Mizzou as well concerning football. I will admit, however, I've always enjoyed the rivalvry (at least I've always perceived it as one) in men's basketball.

I don't think anyone can dispute that the SEC has been better in the past decade or so when both conferences had divisional play, largely due to the relative weakness of the Big12 North division. I think the SEC West is a slight edge over the Big12 South and the SEC East would have a decided edge over the Big12 North.

I think the 2011 Big12 round-robin compares to anything the SEC serves up and is considerably MORE difficult on the lower half teams than divisional play in either conference. SEC doesn't play 9 conference games only 8, so I can see how one could make the case that life in the SEC East is going to be easier than facing the Big12 round robin moving forward. Will they play 9 games moving forward? Then it's probably a push. If the Big12 goes back to divisional play with the addition of two more teams and assuming MU would have been in a division with ISU, KU and KSU and one of the possible additions (L'ville, BYU, Cinci) then I would say the SEC would be markedly more difficult.
