Officiating @ Baylor vs. Texas Tech
Anybody watching this game?
Tuberville has real reason to be ****** off. The white hat is taking the game into his own hands.
Baylor had 4th and 7 at around the Tech 20 yard line. Tech flagged for delay of game on defense coming out of a timeout due to substituting players late. One official was going to let them make the sub, but the referee throws the flag without consulting the other officials. Tuberville then asks to get an explanation from the referee. The referee starts going off on him like he's a baseball umpire. Tuberville mouths "bull ****". Referee throws flag for unsportsman like conduct on him (which you rarely see). 4th and 7 becomes 4th and 2 and then 1st and goal.
Then, RGIII runs the ball and slides. Tech player elbows him in the head. Personal foul for targeting. RGIII injured and has to come out of the game for one play. Briles calls timeout so RGIII can come back in the game, but referee tells him he can't come back in the game for one play even with the timeout called.
I don't necessarily disagree with any of the calls, but the referee has ZERO control of the game which is what I can't stand. Second half will be interesting.

Re: Officiating @ Baylor vs. Texas Tech
And like Tuberville said in the halftime interview: since when can the defense be called for delay of game???
Re: Officiating @ Baylor vs. Texas Tech
Agreed. The thing that surprised me was the official yelling at Tubberville. Why would an official yell at a coach?

Iowa State got a 'delay of game' called while on defense during the a$m game, I believe for a defensive player kicking the ball as the offical was trying to pick it up. Not real good sportsmanship there, but if I remember right it was one of those plays that the offense got away with something with the ref standing right there and nothing was called...frustration became apparent quickly there after.
Re: Officiating @ Baylor vs. Texas Tech
Both Tech and Baylor coaches got "complaining" penalties and both got defensive delay of game penalties...horrible refs both ways, imo.

I believe they call Tech for a late substitution on defense. At least that is what Tubberville said at the half time interview. Don't know if I had seen that called before.
