You obviously missed the BCS selection criteria that clearly states that:

34-c) Subsection IV - "Any embarrassing loss by an SEC school can be negated for the sake of National Championship selection following an impassioned speech by a player that is then rendered into a plaque and attached to the stadium."

Little known fact: Stoops, not realizing the narrow scope of the rule, attempted to negate their loss to Texas by scrawling the lyrics to "Boomer Sooner" on the outside of Memorial Stadium in crayon.
