Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
Makes me want to give him a second chance at making a first impression...make no mistake though...not rooting for KU (unless they are playing someone that a win would help out the Cyclones)!! Just thought it was interesting to see his reflection on his past failures...

Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
Best of luck to the guy. If hes sincere about change within himself, he will do well.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
He may be in for a rude awakening when he realizes how much harder winning at KU will be than every other place he's been for over a decade.
When was the last time Weis coached players who were less talented than the opposition for nine games in a row? I'm sure he's aware of it, but it would be hard for anyone to adjust to, he hasn't exactly been coaching with inferior talent all these years.

I think he knows what he's getting into and knows it's going to be a slow process. One of his goals is to not play 9 games in a row against teams with more talent and from what I'm hearing on the recruiting trail I wouldn't be surprised if he out-recruits several teams in this conference in the near future.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
Still comes across as pretty arrogant to me. Sounds like an arrogant guy trying to sound not arrogant. He claims he was offered multiple jobs, but never interviewed for any of them. How do you get offers before interviews? You don't. He's puffing himself up, as if he needs any extra puffing up.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
When he says "chemistry" all I can think of is gene, Wayne and Robert. The chizz hiring all of his buddies to create "chemistry"
Good luck to him.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
If he couldn't make it at ND, he won't make it at KU.

That's what I thought too. Does lots of name dropping as well. It will be fun to see how this all plays out, especially if they don't win very often.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
"Name" hires rarely do well in this type of situation. Usually it is the guy nobody expects to exceed expectations that has the success.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
This should create "chemistry" in the new big 12....a permanent doormat.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
Chemistry is used to blow things up sometimes. That is a fun option I hope they explore for at least a few more seasons.

Yeah, the other B12 coaches already love him.

That's ridiculous. I can name a lot of coaches who were successful at less high profile jobs but didn't get it done in a high pressure job.
Re: Interesting Charlie Weis Interview
I hope he fails miserably. Not because of anything other than he's at a competing school.

Charlie Weis and his renown patience for rebuilding...
Somebody here said that the Weis hire was intended to win the PR game, not to win football games. I agree.
At Notre Dame, recruiting is about selling. You go after the nation's best talent at the positions you need, and you work on convincing them that ND is the best place for them.
At Kansas, recruiting is about scouting. You're not going to get 4 or 5 star talent, so you need to look high and low for guys that are undervalued by other programs, that buy into your system and that you can coach up (similar to ISU). Two totally different skill sets.
Weis is a risky hire not only due to his health and temperment, but mainly because rebuilding KU is different from anything else he's done in his football career.
