Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Cecil admitted to having done either some shopping of Cam or accepted money. And there are NCAA rules that prohibit this and should be a violation.
Also, who decided if Cecil would be allowed to attend the NC game? Was that Auburn telling him he couldn't go or the NCAA?
So yes... every AD at an NCAA D-1 school should be upset with how Cam and his daddy/agent got let off of the hook by the NCAA, not just USC.
USC on the other hand has no room to cry about anything. Reggie Bush willingly took money, gifts for himself and his parents, etc... It was proven. They got exactly what they deserved. The NCAA's sudden change of heart on the parent/student athlete deal wouldn't have any effect on what USC did and what they were punished for.
The reason USC got hit harder than OSU was because at USC they were cited for a lack of institutional control while at OSU they were cited for failure to monitor.
The reason USC got hit with a bigger charge was because it involved two sports (basketball-OJ Mayo, football-Bush)
Oklahoma St it seems has done everything right so far. That doesn't mean there won't be punishment, but I think it will be pretty light.
By no means am I defending USC. I think their punishment was pretty fair and for everything that was discovered I still bet there are several things that won't be found.
Nothing has been found of a payment to Cecil from Auburn, but there is enough evidence to prove that he was shopping his son to schools.
Had any money actually changed hands then Auburn would have been punished, had Cam known about it or not...
Guys like this get off on feeling like a shot caller/insider/big timer, and the players sometimes buy into it because they feel like celebrities, or need the cash.
Guys like Boone don't need their egos stoked.
That being said they may never find any evidence of wrong doing. Those guys at Auburn are pros when it comes to cheating.
Bunch of cheaters in the b12.
I'm assuming you guys have never heard of Thayer Evans before. He's a hack writer Sooner lover. He's just trying to stir up controversy.
Some of this stuff did happen and the Compliance department got on top of that last summer.
This was our response:
“Oklahoma State University has diligently explored the claims made in an anonymous e-mail that was sent to the university, the media and others some five months ago. The majority of the claims appear to be unfounded. We did discover a secondary infraction that was reported to the NCAA and handled another issue internally through training.
“Based on the information we have gathered, we are satisfied with our findings. We will continue our review and will continue to keep the NCAA informed.”
